Learn how we tag Monarch butterflies as we send them off on their journey to Mexico, or challenge yourself to our Monarch Migration game! We will have a butterfly storytime, face painting, a butterfly walk and scavenger hunt, crafts, pollinator friendly seeds, an edible insect station and lots of resources for native gardens and gardening for pollinators! 

Connecting urban and rural communities between Nampa and Boise, this inclusive 5K invites participants of all ages and abilities to run or walk a scenic route through a Meridian park. Hosted alongside the Latino/Latine Run Club in celebration of Latino Conservation Week, the event combines outdoor movement with cultural vibrancy, featuring an energizer warm-up, live music, dance, local vendors, and food. The initiative aims to raise awareness of Idaho’s natural spaces, provide environmental resources, and foster long-term community stewardship of local parks.

Let's take a walk and practice birding in English and Spanish! Binoculars are available to borrow. Walk is approximately 1.5 miles on flat, rocky trails. For adults and children ages 7 and up. Free.

Come join us and take a guided hike on our Scotler Cove Trail near the Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Schlagle Library. The hike will be led in Spanish and English and will be about a 30-45 minute walk outside. 

Latinos throughout Central Florida are invited to celebrate Latino Conservation Week with Orange Audubon and partners.

Activities will be constructing bird nest boxes and taking a walk at the Apopka Birding Park, a restoration site located at the entrance to the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive.

Join Tampa Bay Kayak Anglers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to introducing new audiences to kayak fishing, ethical angling, safe boating, and conservation, for a special evening celebrating Latino Conservation Week and Hispanic Heritage Month.

The celebration will take place on Thursday, September 17, beginning at 6:30 PM, at GTE Financial Headquarters, located at 711 E. Henderson Ave., Tampa, FL 33602.

Guests will enjoy exclusive screenings of Casting Our Heritage: Hispanics in Tampa Bay Waters and From Sea to Soul, two inspiring short films that highlight the cultural connections, personal stories, and conservation efforts taking place throughout Tampa Bay's waters.

Event Description: Created to Connect is a one-night camping experience designed for Latino young adults ages 18–30 to connect with nature and build community. From September 12–13 at YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch, participants will explore Colorado’s natural spaces through outdoor recreation, conservation education, and hands-on activities. Together, we will learn about responsible recreation, caring for our environment, and protecting public lands for future generations. No previous camping experience is necessary—first-time campers are welcome!

Colorful Creatures: Alebrije Workshop

Join us on Saturday, October 10th, at 10 am to celebrate Day of the Dead and New Jersey wildlife by making "alebrijes" with our bilingual educator, Jasleen. This event is perfect for families with children aged 3-8! 

This event is perfect for families that want to celebrate Latin American traditions, craft together, and spend time in nature as a family! 

What's included: 

• Storybook Reading of "I remember my abuelo" - We will begin with a brief 10 minute reading about the Day of The Dead, read in Spanish. 
• Hands-on craft activity - Building wildlife "alebrijes" or colorful hybrid animals using materials provided by Cedar Run 
• Wildlife Meet and Greet - Meet one of our resident animals up close and personal.
• Wildlife Housing Area Tour - Walk as a family through our wildlife housing area as we explore the cultural significance of our animals in Latin America!

El Día del Arroyo es un evento comunitario de restauración de cuencas hidrográficas basado en el voluntariado que el Alpine Watershed Group ha estado coordinando desde 2001. Este importante evento nos ayuda a llevar a cabo proyectos de salud ambiental, tales como la instalación de estacas de sauce, la recolección de basura, la eliminación de malezas invasoras, el control de problemas de erosión, la protección de álamos y otros proyectos ecológicos.

El Día del Arroyo reúne a docenas de voluntarios que se dividen para trabajar en varios proyectos, cada uno con un líder capacitado en el sitio que cuenta con las herramientas y suministros necesarios.

El Día Familiar en el Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge es una evento al aire libre, guiado por un guardia forestal del U.S. Fish and Wildlie Service del parque, en el cual participaremos en diversas actividades tales como:

• caminar por los senderos del parque
• observar las aves nativas del Valle del Río Grande en el Sur de Texas
• aprender acerca de la naturaleza como creación de Dio, su cuidado y consevación

A virtual conversation for women who want to learn, connect, and be inspired to make a positive impact in their communities.

Three women leaders will share their experiences and how they have created meaningful change through initiatives focused on education, community leadership, and environmental conservation. This gathering will provide an opportunity to hear inspiring stories, learn from other women, and discover new ways to get involved and make a difference.

Christian Education Week + Latino Conservation Week

This year, our Christian Education Week celebration will be connected with Latino Conservation Week, creating an opportunity for faith, education, science, and care for creation to come together in meaningful and practical ways.

Under the theme “Faithfulness That Shapes Generations,” we will focus on the affirmation “Inspired by His Faithfulness.” God’s faithfulness forms us, sustains us, and guides us. In response, we are called to live with purpose and to responsibly care for the creation He has entrusted to us.

The experience will include four interactive stations designed to engage both our students and faculty, with the Science Department and science classes playing an important role in connecting faith, learning, environmental awareness, and action.

Four Interactive Stations

1. Care for Our Coasts
An educational station focused on beach and coastal conservation, the impact of waste and pollution, and practical ways we can help protect marine ecosystems.

2. Light Matters
A station centered on light pollution and its impact on wildlife, helping participants understand how artificial light can affect animal behavior, habitats, and natural ecosystems.

3. Plant with Purpose
Participants will have the opportunity to plant a seed or small plant as a symbol of stewardship, growth, responsibility, and hope for future generations.

4. Inspired by Creation
An art-based station where participants can draw or create something inspired by God’s creation, connecting creativity, reflection, and environmental awareness.

The goal is for each station to go beyond sharing information and encourage a practical response: to learn, care, create, and act.

Join us for a fun, family-friendly celebration of Latino Conservation Week! Together with Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, Latino Outdoors, Wilderness Youth Project, and Los Padres Forest Watch, we'll explore the amazing plants, animals, and insects that call our local environment home. This free bilingual and bicultural event is open to all ages and is a great opportunity to connect with nature, learn something new, and spend time with your community. Registration is required as there is a 50-person limit for this event. 

The event takes place at Elings Park in Santa Barbara, where you'll receive a brief lesson on local biodiversity efforts, a nature zine created by the Botanic Garden, and meet 4 local organizations doing conservation work in the region. We'll also take a short, easy walk (about 15 minutes) to a nearby native plant restoration site, where you'll see how restoring local habitats helps birds, bees, butterflies, and other wildlife thrive. You'll participate in a native seed collection effort and also see how native plants differ from their non-native counterparts. Along the way, you'll discover simple ways we can all help protect the natural places around us. You'll leave the event with your very own native plant to take home and care for!!

Please bring a hat, a reusable water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, and a sense of curiosity. Whether you're new to exploring the outdoors or already love spending time in nature, we look forward to sharing this experience with you and your family.

Coffee and pan-dulce will be served in the morning and burritos from Del Pueblo Cafe will be provided for lunch.

Join us at the Chehalis Western Trailhead at Woodard Bay Natural Area for a free bilingual educational program for families. The event will feature tables hosted by community partners about birds, plants, aquatics and more, and guided walks with local naturalists to learn about the environment and ongoing restoration. Refreshments will be provided!

This transformative airboat experience seeks to reconnect Hispanic organizations and communities in Central Florida with our precious Everglades ecosystem. It is vital that the Hispanic community understands that the health of local wetlands directly impacts the water supply for more than 8 million people in Florida. The expedition is not just recreational; it includes a guided talk on the impact of urban development on river headwaters and the importance of protecting wetlands from pollution and habitat fragmentation.

Fanzines are mini magazines that allow latinx creators to express themselves through art and culture.

Spend an afternoon with us at the nature park and discover what it takes to be a nature superhero! We will have activities for the whole family to enjoy!

The Tualatin Hills Nature Center is partnering with local Latine-owned businesses and organizations to host a FREE party in celebration of Latino Conservation Week and Welcoming Week. Trail Work

Join Big Sur Land Trust, the City of Salinas, CSUMB's Habitat Stewardship Project, the Center for Community Advocacy, and community partners as we celebrate the grand opening of the 67-acre Restoration Area at Ensen Community Park!

This free, family-friendly event will feature guided bird walks, a community bike ride, hands-on activities, community resource booths, raffles, and complimentary espresso drinks. Community members of all ages are invited to explore the new restoration area, connect with local organizations, and celebrate this exciting milestone for Salinas.

The restoration area represents the second and final phase of the Ensen Community Project, a transformative effort that has converted land once drained for agriculture into a vibrant landscape where wetlands, wildlife habitat, environmental education, and outdoor recreation thrive together. The project fulfills a long-standing community vision to create more parks and open space in Salinas while restoring a portion of the historic Carr Lake area for both people and nature.

This achievement reflects years of collaboration and community leadership. Since 2018, more than 7,000 residents, community organizations, and local leaders have helped shape the vision for this space, ensuring it serves as a welcoming destination that reflects the values, culture, and aspirations of the Salinas community.

Come celebrate this community-driven conservation success and experience the newest addition to Ensen Community Park!

The Great Sierra River Cleanup is back! GSRC is a Sierra-wide watershed cleanup event coordinated by Sierra Nevada Alliance in collaboration with California’s Coastal Cleanup Day. 46,201 volunteers removed 398,654 pounds (199 tons) of trash from the Sierra Nevada waterways and across the state’s entire coastline. We will spend the morning picking up litter at our Clementine Beach Preserve and at the connected Upper Lake Clementine Beach area. Lunch will be provided at the end of the day. You are welcome to spend time at the public beach along the river after the cleanup, but please note that the river is fast and cold.

• El minicuento de La Leyenda de La Lechuza - Empiezan con un cuento breve de 10 minutos de Zulema y La Bruja Lechuza, leído en español. 
• Conocer una fauna - Conocen a uno de nuestros búhos residentes en una experiencia íntima, en la que pueden verlo muy cercano y personal. 
• Actividades prácticas - Tienen la oportunidad de mirar y tocar los artefactos de los búhos. 
• El Tour de Las Viviendas - Caminan por las viviendas de nuestra fauna mientras exploramos las diferencias entre los especies de los buhos que viven con nosotros.

Join us on Saturday, October 10 as we talk about the legend of La Lechuza and meet some of our resident owls with our Bilingual Educator, Jasleen. Families will investigate artifacts and learn about the adaptations of owls that make them so special! This program is good for ages 8+!

This engaging event is perfect for families looking to celebrate Hispanic myths, learn together, get outside, and see the Refuge in a whole new way.

• Legend of La Lechuza Storybook - Start off with a quick 10-minute storybook reading session of Zulema and the Witch Owl.
• Wildlife Meet and Greet - Meet one of our resident Eastern Screech-owls up close and personal.
• Hands-On Activities - Have the opportunity to look at and feel owl artifacts.

Join the Open Space Authority, San Jose Astronomical Association (SJAA) and US Fish and Wildlife to celebrate the beauty of nature and community for Latino Conservation Week!

As the sun begins to set, we will embark on a guided sensory walk, taking the time to experience nature through sight, sound, touch and smell. We will listen for the evening chorus of frogs and discover the changing colors of the landscape at sunset. As darkness falls, our volunteer astrodocents will help us turn our eyes to the night sky. With telescopes, participants will have the opportunity to view the waxing crescent moon and learn about its phases and surface features.

We hope you can join us to celebrate our community, connection, and the beauty of outdoors.

Dress in layers and bring a red-flashlight to preserve your night vision. Bring water and a snack . Note that the walk to the moon viewing area can be rocky, so close-toed shoes are recommended.

Participants can explore the wetlands through bilingual guided walks, birdwatching, nature talks, hands-on activities, arts and crafts, and interactive science experiences. From discovering the tiny creatures living in the water to learning about the plants and birds that depend on the estuary, there will be something for every age and interest .One of the highlights will be a hands-on experience in the estuary, where participants can help plant 50 native plants, take part in a water quality demonstration, and spend time with biologists. Local conservation experts will help participants understand what these activities reveal about the health and importance of our wetlands. Families can also explore local biodiversity using iNaturalist, connect with conservation organizations, and discover nature up close through specimens, microscopes, field guides, and other educational tools. “Cafecito & Conservation,” will be a bilingual community gathering. Here participants will learn about Wisconsin’s city and state parks and trails, conservation efforts, farming and agricultural culture, and opportunities to enjoy and protect local natural spaces and foster a sense of belonging and leadership. The event will also highlight connections between Latino cultural traditions and Wisconsin culture, recognizing shared values around land, food, agriculture, family, and community.

Join  National Park Service George Washington Memorial Parkway, Green Latinos, and Urban Adventure Squad for a Latino Conservation Week Celebration.  The Friends of Mount Vernon Trail will be picking up trash from 9am-11am near Theodore Roosevelt Island. There will also be community tabling (10am-2pm) in celebration of Latino Conservation Week. Activities include completing Junior Park Ranger activities and earning a Junior Ranger badge, learning from National Park Rangers and conservation groups about the park and the watershed, a hike on the island led by a park ranger, and free giveaways.

Visit Muir Woods National Monument on Saturday September 12^th to celebrate a day of Latino Conservation Week! Explore the redwood forest and enjoy programs like ranger walks and tours. Also, become familiar with what conservation looks like by interacting with discovery tables and art workshops hosted by the conservationists from the National Park Service, East Bay Regional Parks, Save the Redwoods League, and California Academy of Sciences.

Join us to kickoff Latino Conservation Week at Ironwood Forest National Monument, where we'll gather to talk about the meaning of this week for our Latinx communities,  conservation issues that impact our public lands- including the monument, and we'll also enjoy a short walk led by Friends of the Ironwood Forest. 

Our press conference, with speakers from different environmental groups hosting events all week, will start at 8am, followed by the walk.

Explore Kendall-Frost Marsh through hands-on activities and learn about the plants, animals, and habitats that make this ecosystem so special. This bilingual (English/Spanish) community event offers opportunities to connect with nature while contributing to community science during California Biodiversity Day. Whether you're an experienced naturalist or visiting the wetlands for the first time, everyone is welcome!

The fun kicks off at the Field Station, so come meet us there! We'll start with activities on-site, then head out together as a group to Crown Point, birdwatching along the way. Running late? Join us during Latino Conservation Week as we walk across the Oceano Dunes Preserve to the shoreline to learn about this unique habitat and ways to conserve it. Conservation begins by connecting with nature and the land. Let's get to know the Oceano Dunes Preserve.

Join Sierra Nevada Alliance and Luis Rubio on this day of adventure in celebration of Latino Conservation Week! Participants in this bilingual event can expect a day full of adventure, learning, and community. Scheduled activities for the day include rafting, a picnic, and a guided hike around Donner Lake. Are you a first-time rafter!? No problem! Experienced staff will guide the experience. Expect to raft for 45-60 minutes while learning about the history of Donner Lake Memorial State Park and its importance to California and U.S. history. During the guided hike, you will travel on a relatively flat path around the lake, learning about historical uses of native plants, trees, and mushrooms, or you can remain at the picnic area for community-building games and activities.

This is a free, family-friendly event meant to combine community, adventure, and education! Lunch will be provided. Parking will be free. Tickets are very limited, so please only reserve if you are definitely joining us (one ticket per person). Waivers must be signed on the day of the event to participate. Register here.

Take a hike with us!

Join @nuestraculturaoutdoors and @kellysemrad.d5 for a morning of exploring a beautiful wetlands ecosystem in east Orange County. The Orlando Wetlands is home to a plethora of wildlife including birds of all kinds, gators, turtles, and more.

This event is a collaboration in honor of Latino Conservation Week, a Hispanic Access Foundation initiative to increase Latinos' experiences with the outdoors and protect our natural resources. 

Our hike will be beginner-level so all ages are welcome. Please plan on bringing a hat, water bottle, and protection from the sun as there are limited shady areas.

Este evento es una colaboración en homenaje a la Semana de la Conservación Latina, una iniciativa de la Fundación Hispanic Access destinada a fomentar las experiencias de los latinos al aire libre y a proteger nuestros recursos naturales.

Únase a Aurora Water y la división de Parques, Recreación y Espacios Abiertos de la Ciudad de Aurora en Star K Ranch mientras celebramos la Semana de la Conservación Latina manteniendo un ambiente natural saludable. En este evento familiar, los participantes ayudarán a preservar las cubierta arbórea aplicando pintura que previene la mascada de castor y mantendrán arroyos saludables limpiando la basura. Nuestros esfuerzos beneficiarán a la naturaleza, el agua, las plantas y la vida silvestre. Por favor, use pantalones largos y zapatos cerrados. Se ofrecerán aperitivos y agua. Una vez finalizada la labor de voluntariado a las 11:00 a. m., podrá explorar el parque, la nueva zona de exploración de la naturaleza, los senderos y el centro de naturaleza, además de participar en diversas actividades. El evento es gratuito.

Join Aurora Water and City of Aurora’s Parks, Recreation, and Open Space division at Star K Ranch as we celebrate Latino Conservation Week by sustaining a healthy natural environment. In this family-friendly event, participants will assist to preserve tree canopy by applying beaver chew paint and maintain good stream health by trash cleanup.  Our efforts will give back to nature, water, plants, and animals. Please bring pants and closed-toe shoes. Snacks and water will be provided. Once the volunteer work is done at 11 am, feel free to explore the park, NEW nature exploration area, trails, nature center, and partake in activities.

Latino Outdoors Central Coast will participate in the annual California Coastal Cleanup Day coordinated by the California Coastal Commission. In San Luis Obispo County, ECOSLO coordinates Creeks to Coast Cleanup. This year, Latino Outdoors will help cleanup at Oso Flaco Lake.

Participating in Coastal Cleanup Day fits right in with Latino Conservation Week which is September 12-20, 2026. Latino Conservation Week was created to support the Latino community getting into the outdoors and participating in activities to protect our natural resources.

Corn has been at the center of land and food systems across Latin America for thousands of years, long before borders split the region into countries. The Milpa System, growing corn, beans, and squash together, is one of the oldest examples of working with land instead of depleting it. This workshop invites participants to talk about corn's history in MesoAmerica and its relationship to the land. We’ll then put that history into our hands by making tamales, a dish that exists in some form in nearly every Latin American country. While the tamales steam, we’ll use that time to make flowers out of the leftover corn husks, another way of using what the land gives fully. We’ll close by eating what we made together and sharing our own families' tamale traditions.

El maíz ha sido el eje de los sistemas agrícolas y alimentarios en toda América Latina durante miles de años, mucho antes de que las fronteras dividieran la región en distintos países. El sistema de la milpa —que consiste en cultivar maíz, frijol y calabaza de manera conjunta— es uno de los ejemplos más antiguos de cómo trabajar la tierra en armonía con ella, en lugar de agotarla. Este taller invita a los participantes a conversar sobre la historia del maíz en Mesoamérica y su vínculo con la tierra. A continuación, llevaremos esa historia a la práctica preparando tamales, un platillo presente, de una u otra forma, en casi todos los países de América Latina. Mientras los tamales se cocinan al vapor, aprovecharemos el tiempo para elaborar flores con las hojas de maíz sobrantes, otra manera de aprovechar al máximo lo que la tierra nos ofrece. Concluiremos la actividad degustando lo que hemos preparado y compartiendo las tradiciones familiares en torno a los tamales.

Join IERCD and Hispanic Access Foundation for a community celebration at Louis Robidoux Parkland and Pecan Grove! Participants will help collect native milkweed seeds for future monarch habitat restoration, learn about local plants and wildlife, and take part in hands-on activities that celebrate community stewardship and connection to the land.

• El Minicuento de Las Monarcas - Empiezan con un minicuento breve de las Monarcas. 
• Hacer Manualidades en La Naturaliza - Crean las Monarcas usando materiales de la naturaleza y aprendan sobre la importancia de este especie.
• El Tour de Las Viviendas - Caminan por las viviendas de nuestra fauna mientras cuentan las historias de nuestros animales.
