Connecting urban and rural communities between Nampa and Boise, this inclusive 5K invites participants of all ages and abilities to run or walk a scenic route through a Meridian park. Hosted alongside the Latino/Latine Run Club in celebration of Latino Conservation Week, the event combines outdoor movement with cultural vibrancy, featuring an energizer warm-up, live music, dance, local vendors, and food. The initiative aims to raise awareness of Idaho’s natural spaces, provide environmental resources, and foster long-term community stewardship of local parks.

Let’s go fishing at a National Wildlife Refuge! Learn the basics of fishing and enjoy your time in nature. No experience required, all ages welcomed. End your fishing outing with provided lunch.

Please note: There will be a limit of 50 attendees so make sure to register you and your family early! Spots may fill up fast. Individuals from the Idaho Wildlife Federation, Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) will be on hand to assist all new anglers with the basics of fishing.

Let's take a walk and practice birding in English and Spanish! Binoculars are available to borrow. Walk is approximately 1.5 miles on flat, rocky trails. For adults and children ages 7 and up. Free.

Come join us and take a guided hike on our Scotler Cove Trail near the Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Schlagle Library. The hike will be led in Spanish and English and will be about a 30-45 minute walk outside. 

Latinos throughout Central Florida are invited to celebrate Latino Conservation Week with Orange Audubon and partners.

Activities will be constructing bird nest boxes and taking a walk at the Apopka Birding Park, a restoration site located at the entrance to the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive.

Date is Saturday, September 12th. Time is 8:30 to 11 am.

Join Tampa Bay Kayak Anglers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to introducing new audiences to kayak fishing, ethical angling, safe boating, and conservation, for a special evening celebrating Latino Conservation Week and Hispanic Heritage Month.

Event Description: Created to Connect is a one-night camping experience designed for Latino young adults ages 18–30 to connect with nature and build community. From September 12–13 at YMCA Snow Mountain Ranch, participants will explore Colorado’s natural spaces through outdoor recreation, conservation education, and hands-on activities. Together, we will learn about responsible recreation, caring for our environment, and protecting public lands for future generations. No previous camping experience is necessary—first-time campers are welcome!

Colorful Creatures: Alebrije Workshop

Join us on Saturday, October 10th, at 10 am to celebrate Day of the Dead and New Jersey wildlife by making "alebrijes" with our bilingual educator, Jasleen. This event is perfect for families with children aged 3-8! 

This event is perfect for families that want to celebrate Latin American traditions, craft together, and spend time in nature as a family! 

What's included: 

• Storybook Reading of "I remember my abuelo" - We will begin with a brief 10 minute reading about the Day of The Dead, read in Spanish. 
• Hands-on craft activity - Building wildlife "alebrijes" or colorful hybrid animals using materials provided by Cedar Run 
• Wildlife Meet and Greet - Meet one of our resident animals up close and personal.
• Wildlife Housing Area Tour - Walk as a family through our wildlife housing area as we explore the cultural significance of our animals in Latin America!

Familias Empoderadas will host a bilingual outdoor wellness experience at a local public park, inviting Latino families to reconnect with nature through mindful movement, environmental education, and community reflection. Participants will take part in a guided nature walk, learn about the health and environmental benefits of California's public lands, and experience a DanzaCura healing movement session inspired by the elements of nature.

El Día del Arroyo es un evento comunitario de restauración de cuencas hidrográficas basado en el voluntariado que el Alpine Watershed Group ha estado coordinando desde 2001. Christian Education Week + Latino Conservation Week

This year, our Christian Education Week celebration will be connected with Latino Conservation Week, creating an opportunity for faith, education, science, and care for creation to come together in meaningful and practical ways.

Under the theme “Faithfulness That Shapes Generations,” we will focus on the affirmation “Inspired by His Faithfulness.” God’s faithfulness forms us, sustains us, and guides us. In response, we are called to live with purpose and to responsibly care for the creation He has entrusted to us.

The experience will include four interactive stations designed to engage both our students and faculty, with the Science Department and science classes playing an important role in connecting faith, learning, environmental awareness, and action.

Four Interactive Stations

1. Care for Our Coasts
An educational station focused on beach and coastal conservation, the impact of waste and pollution, and practical ways we can help protect marine ecosystems.

2. Light Matters
A station centered on light pollution and its impact on wildlife, helping participants understand how artificial light can affect animal behavior, habitats, and natural ecosystems.

3. Plant with Purpose
Participants will have the opportunity to plant a seed or small plant as a symbol of stewardship, growth, responsibility, and hope for future generations.

4. Inspired by Creation
An art-based station where participants can draw or create something inspired by God’s creation, connecting creativity, reflection, and environmental awareness.

The goal is for each station to go beyond sharing information and encourage a practical response: to learn, care, create, and act.

Join us for a fun, family-friendly celebration of Latino Conservation Week! Together with Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, Latino Outdoors, Wilderness Youth Project, and Los Padres Forest Watch, we'll explore the amazing plants, animals, and insects that call our local environment home. This free bilingual and bicultural event is open to all ages and is a great opportunity to connect with nature, learn something new, and spend time with your community. Registration is required as there is a 50-person limit for this event. 

The event takes place at Elings Park in Santa Barbara, where you'll receive a brief lesson on local biodiversity efforts, a nature zine created by the Botanic Garden, and meet 4 local organizations doing conservation work in the region. We'll also take a short, easy walk (about 15 minutes) to a nearby native plant restoration site, where you'll see how restoring local habitats helps birds, bees, butterflies, and other wildlife thrive. You'll participate in a native seed collection effort and also see how native plants differ from their non-native counterparts. Along the way, you'll discover simple ways we can all help protect the natural places around us. You'll leave the event with your very own native plant to take home and care for!!

Please bring a hat, a reusable water bottle, comfortable walking shoes, and a sense of curiosity. Whether you're new to exploring the outdoors or already love spending time in nature, we look forward to sharing this experience with you and your family.

Coffee and pan-dulce will be served in the morning and burritos from Del Pueblo Cafe will be provided for lunch.

Join us at the Chehalis Western Trailhead at Woodard Bay Natural Area for a free bilingual educational program for families. The event will feature tables hosted by community partners about birds, plants, aquatics and more, and guided walks with local naturalists to learn about the environment and ongoing restoration. This transformative airboat experience seeks to reconnect Hispanic organizations and communities in Central Florida with our precious Everglades ecosystem. It is vital that the Hispanic community understands that the health of local wetlands directly impacts the water supply for more than 8 million people in Florida. The expedition is not just recreational; it includes a guided talk on the impact of urban development on river headwaters and the importance of protecting wetlands from pollution and habitat fragmentation.

Trail Work

Join Big Sur Land Trust, the City of Salinas, CSUMB's Habitat Stewardship Project, the Center for Community Advocacy, and community partners as we celebrate the grand opening of the 67-acre Restoration Area at Ensen Community Park!

This free, family-friendly event will feature guided bird walks, a community bike ride, hands-on activities, community resource booths, raffles, and complimentary espresso drinks. Community members of all ages are invited to explore the new restoration area, connect with local organizations, and celebrate this exciting milestone for Salinas.

The restoration area represents the second and final phase of the Ensen Community Project, a transformative effort that has converted land once drained for agriculture into a vibrant landscape where wetlands, wildlife habitat, environmental education, and outdoor recreation thrive together. The project fulfills a long-standing community vision to create more parks and open space in Salinas while restoring a portion of the historic Carr Lake area for both people and nature.

This achievement reflects years of collaboration and community leadership. Since 2018, more than 7,000 residents, community organizations, and local leaders have helped shape the vision for this space, ensuring it serves as a welcoming destination that reflects the values, culture, and aspirations of the Salinas community.

Come celebrate this community-driven conservation success and experience the newest addition to Ensen Community Park!

The Great Sierra River Cleanup is back! GSRC is a Sierra-wide watershed cleanup event coordinated by Sierra Nevada Alliance in collaboration with California’s Coastal Cleanup Day. 46,201 volunteers removed 398,654 pounds (199 tons) of trash from the Sierra Nevada waterways and across the state’s entire coastline. We will spend the morning picking up litter at our Clementine Beach Preserve and at the connected Upper Lake Clementine Beach area. Lunch will be provided at the end of the day. You are welcome to spend time at the public beach along the river after the cleanup, but please note that the river is fast and cold.

Join the Open Space Authority, San Jose Astronomical Association (SJAA) and US Fish and Wildlife to celebrate the beauty of nature and community for Latino Conservation Week!

As the sun begins to set, we will embark on a guided sensory walk, taking the time to experience nature through sight, sound, touch and smell. We will listen for the evening chorus of frogs and discover the changing colors of the landscape at sunset. As darkness falls, our volunteer astrodocents will help us turn our eyes to the night sky. With telescopes, participants will have the opportunity to view the waxing crescent moon and learn about its phases and surface features.

We hope you can join us to celebrate our community, connection, and the beauty of outdoors.

Dress in layers and bring a red-flashlight to preserve your night vision. Bring water and a snack . Note that the walk to the moon viewing area can be rocky, so close-toed shoes are recommended.

Participants can explore the wetlands through bilingual guided walks, birdwatching, nature talks, hands-on activities, arts and crafts, and interactive science experiences. From discovering the tiny creatures living in the water to learning about the plants and birds that depend on the estuary, there will be something for every age and interest .One of the highlights will be a hands-on experience in the estuary, where participants can help plant 50 native plants, take part in a water quality demonstration, and spend time with biologists. Local conservation experts will help participants understand what these activities reveal about the health and importance of our wetlands. Families can also explore local biodiversity using iNaturalist, connect with conservation organizations, and discover nature up close through specimens, microscopes, field guides, and other educational tools. Join Sierra Nevada Alliance and Luis Rubio on this day of adventure in celebration of Latino Conservation Week! Participants in this bilingual event can expect a day full of adventure, learning, and community. Scheduled activities for the day include rafting, a picnic, and a guided hike around Donner Lake. Are you a first-time rafter!? No problem! Experienced staff will guide the experience. Expect to raft for 45-60 minutes while learning about the history of Donner Lake Memorial State Park and its importance to California and U.S. history. During the guided hike, you will travel on a relatively flat path around the lake, learning about historical uses of native plants, trees, and mushrooms, or you can remain at the picnic area for community-building games and activities.

This is a free, family-friendly event meant to combine community, adventure, and education! Lunch will be provided. Parking will be free. Tickets are very limited, so please only reserve if you are definitely joining us (one ticket per person). Waivers must be signed on the day of the event to participate. Register here.

Join Aurora Water and City of Aurora’s Parks, Recreation, and Open Space division at Star K Ranch as we celebrate Latino Conservation Week by sustaining a healthy natural environment. In this family-friendly event, participants will assist to preserve tree canopy by applying beaver chew paint and maintain good stream health by trash cleanup.  Our efforts will give back to nature, water, plants, and animals. Latino Outdoors Central Coast will participate in the annual California Coastal Cleanup Day coordinated by the California Coastal Commission. In San Luis Obispo County, ECOSLO coordinates Creeks to Coast Cleanup. This year, Latino Outdoors will help cleanup at Oso Flaco Lake.

Participating in Coastal Cleanup Day fits right in with Latino Conservation Week which is September 12-20, 2026. Latino Conservation Week was created to support the Latino community getting into the outdoors and participating in activities to protect our natural resources.

Corn has been at the center of land and food systems across Latin America for thousands of years, long before borders split the region into countries. The Milpa System, growing corn, beans, and squash together, is one of the oldest examples of working with land instead of depleting it. This workshop invites participants to talk about corn's history in MesoAmerica and its relationship to the land. We’ll then put that history into our hands by making tamales, a dish that exists in some form in nearly every Latin American country. While the tamales steam, we’ll use that time to make flowers out of the leftover corn husks, another way of using what the land gives fully. We’ll close by eating what we made together and sharing our own families' tamale traditions.

El maíz ha sido el eje de los sistemas agrícolas y alimentarios en toda América Latina durante miles de años, mucho antes de que las fronteras dividieran la región en distintos países. El sistema de la milpa —que consiste en cultivar maíz, frijol y calabaza de manera conjunta— es uno de los ejemplos más antiguos de cómo trabajar la tierra en armonía con ella, en lugar de agotarla. Este taller invita a los participantes a conversar sobre la historia del maíz en Mesoamérica y su vínculo con la tierra. A continuación, llevaremos esa historia a la práctica preparando tamales, un platillo presente, de una u otra forma, en casi todos los países de América Latina. Mientras los tamales se cocinan al vapor, aprovecharemos el tiempo para elaborar flores con las hojas de maíz sobrantes, otra manera de aprovechar al máximo lo que la tierra nos ofrece. Join IERCD and Hispanic Access Foundation for a community celebration at Louis Robidoux Parkland and Pecan Grove! Participants will help collect native milkweed seeds for future monarch habitat restoration, learn about local plants and wildlife, and take part in hands-on activities that celebrate community stewardship and connection to the land.

• Monarch Butterfly Storybook - start off with a quick storybook reading about monarch butterflies in Spanish.
• Nature crafts - Make monarch butterflies out of materials from nature and learn about their importance. 
• Wildlife Housing Area Tour - Walk as a family through our wildlife housing area as we explore the cultural significance of our animals in Latin America!

Celebrate community, culture, and conservation at our special volunteer day at the Ascot Hills Native Plant Nursery in East Los Angeles! In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and Latino Conservation Week, we’re coming together to care for our local ecosystem, honor our connections to the land, and celebrate our vibrant community. Whether you’re an experienced gardener or brand new to plant care, everyone is welcome to get their hands in the soil.

• Native Plant Care: Pot, propagate, and care for native plant species.
• Nursery Maintenance: Organize, weed, and water native saplings and flora.
• Black Walnut Processing: Process black walnuts from husk to seed (which we will later use for natural clothing dyes!).
• Learning: Discover how native plant propagation, habitat restoration, and equitable green access build a climate-resilient California.

En honor al Mes de la Herencia Hispana y la Semana de la Conservación Latina, nos reunimos para cuidar nuestro ecosistema local, honrar nuestra conexión con la tierra y celebrar nuestra vibrante comunidad. Ya sea que tengas experiencia en jardinería o sea tu primera vez, ¡todos son bienvenidos a poner manos en la tierra!

?️ Lo Que Harás

• Cuidado de Plantas Nativas: Trasplantar, propagar y cuidar especies de plantas nativas.
• Mantenimiento del Vivero: Ayudar a organizar, desmalezar y regar árboles jóvenes y flora nativa.
• Procesamiento de Nogal Negro: Procesar nogales negros quitando la semilla de la cáscara (¡que luego usaremos para hacer tinte para ropa!).
• Aprendizaje: Descubre cómo la propagación de plantas nativas, la restauración del hábitat y el acceso equitativo a la naturaleza construyen una California más resiliente.

☕ Bocadillos y Bebidas

Daremos la bienvenida a los voluntarios con un auténtico café de olla y pan dulce al registrarse, ¡y terminaremos la jornada laboral con fruta fresca con Tajín y aguas frescas inspiradas en plantas nativas! (Disponible por orden de llegada, hasta agotar existencias.)

• Ropa: Vestimenta cómoda que no te importe ensuciar un poco y zapatos cerrados y resistentes.
• Protección Solar: Se recomienda sombreros y protector solar.
• Hidratación: Trae tu botella de agua reutilizable.

Como parte de la iniciativa 30x30 de California —un esfuerzo estatal para conservar el 30% de nuestras tierras y aguas para el año 2030— pasaremos la mañana disfrutando de una actividad recreativa al aire libre en contacto con la naturaleza.

Después de nuestra aventura, regresaremos para compartir un almuerzo comunitario y disfrutar de una mañana creativa, donde niños y adultos podrán expresar su amor por la naturaleza a través del arte inspirado en el 30x30.

Day of Nature, Community, and Art

Join us for a special family day celebrating California's natural spaces. As part of California's 30x30 initiative — a statewide effort to conserve 30% of our lands and waters by 2030 — we'll spend the morning enjoying an outdoor recreational activity in nature.

Afterward, we'll come back together for a community lunch and a creative afternoon, where kids and adults alike can express their love of nature through 30x30-inspired artwork.

This free, family-friendly event welcomes all ages. Come connect with the land, your community, and your creativity!

Latinas in STEM is teaming up with Teachings by Tatiana for Latino Conservation Week 2026!

This year's theme is "Rooted in Nature, Thriving in Community"

We will learn about plant families and their importance, reflect with some guided prompts and draw some plants. No drawing experience required. This is a great opportunity for families to participate! We will also be sending you a zine created by Tatiana for this virtual event!

• Guided hikes that showcase the beauty of the Trinity River and its wildlife

• Hands-on bilingual activities for kids and families

• Community exhibitors sharing resources and stories

• Cultural celebrations that honor the Latino community’s role in conservation

By weaving together culture and conservation, Nature Unidos reminds us that green spaces are for everyone, and that Latino voices are vital in protecting and enjoying our natural world.

Join the Latine Environmental Colectivo for a fun and leisurely nature walk at Forest Hill Park in celebration of Latino Conservation Week! Participants will connect with nature and community while learning about native plant species and the importance of protecting and restoring our local environment. Along the way, we’ll play nature-themed bingo and explore the plants, wildlife, and natural spaces that make our community special. This family-friendly event is an opportunity to learn, connect, and celebrate the relationship between Latino communities and the environment. Rooted in Nature, Thriving in Community!

¡Acompáñanos con Latine Environmental Colectivo para una caminata divertida y relajada por Forest Hill Park en celebración de la Semana de la Conservación Latina! Los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de conectarse con la naturaleza y la comunidad mientras aprenden sobre las especies de plantas nativas y la importancia de proteger y restaurar nuestro medio ambiente local. Durante la caminata, jugaremos bingo de naturaleza y exploraremos las plantas, la vida silvestre y los espacios naturales que hacen especial a nuestra comunidad. Este evento familiar ofrece una oportunidad para aprender, conectarnos y celebrar la relación entre las comunidades latinas y el medio ambiente. ¡Con raíces en la naturaleza, prosperando en comunidad!

Experience the desert after dark on a guided 1-mile night hike along an easy, flat trail. As the sun sets, we'll discover how the landscape comes alive with nocturnal wildlife and sounds that many people never get to experience.

Nature Friends will provide headlamps to help light the trail and UV flashlights to search for fascinating glowing critters, including scorpions, that fluoresce under ultraviolet light. 

Before the sun sets, we will make glow-in-the-dark hats.

To keep everyone comfortable, we'll also provide light snacks and drinks to help everyone stay hydrated during the hike.
