Environmental Education Webinar
This event will focus on Perspectives on Environmental Education with the aim of increasing citizen awareness and promoting knowledge about environmental issues. Connect the Latino communities with the preservation and conservation of resources of National Parks and public lands. The virtual seminar will have 8 professionals within the National Park System, in addition to 2 sections in the morning and in the afternoon and the presentations will be offered in English and others in Spanish language.

We love sharing the relationships between plants, insects, and birds with you and even have something for the youngest visitors. No registration is necessary, and it’s free with admission. So just stop by anytime from 10 am to 1 pm. See you there!

Stop by our Education Station: Tasting Station in Lucille's Garden to sample the seasonal bounty from our edible garden! No registration is necessary and it's free with admission. Just stop by any time during the hours of 10 am to 1 pm. See you there!
Bilingual Storybook Walk/Hike
Celebrate Latino Conservation week with a storybook trail that follows fisherman Finn and his dog, Skip, as they explore the forest, human impacts, and conservation. Enjoy the book and a hike! Book "Forests!" written by Brendan Kearney.

Matters exhibit! Explore the various zones of this thought-provoking and interactive
experience, discover the interconnectedness between humans and natural habitats, and
learn problem-solving skills that can help you improve our modern world.
Cafecito and Nature Walk
Gear up for an epic morning walk and connect with the outdoors as we
kick off Latino Conservation Week! Embark on a captivating bilingual guided nature walk
led by our garden expert through the beautiful Botanical Garden, filled with an array of
fascinating desert-adapted plants, followed by an easy trail hike that will lead us through
native habitats and archeological sites. The nature walk will culminate at WaterWorks,
where you will re-energize with complimentary cafecito (Coffee) and pan dulce (Mexican
sweet bread) before exploring the bilingual and interactive exhibit. Join us for an
adventure-packed morning filled with exploration and loads of fun. Remember to bring
your reusable water bottle and sunscreen!
Campfire Under The City Lights
Campfire...in LA? Join us for an evening that will feature a family-friendly bilingual hike, craft activities, a campfire and smores! This event is entirely free and is being hosted by the National Park Service, California State Parks, and Greening Youth HBCUI. Athletic footwear, layered loose-fitting attire are strongly advised. Depending on where you park, parking costs can vary. We are really excited to see you all there!

Celebrate Latino Conservation Week with The Nature Conservancy at Brownsville Preserve in Nassawadox, VA on Sunday, July 23rd, 2:00-4:00 pm! The Nature Conservancy’s Brownsville Preserve is located at 11332 Brownsville Rd. Nassawadox, VA 23413. Stewardship Volunteer Day on the Katy Prairie
Help us care for the Katy Prairie! Every Tuesday and Friday on the Indiangrass Preserve, volunteer stewards participate in activities critical to the success of our restoration and public access programs.
Volunteers maintain the Ann Hamilton Trail, grow out native species in our Coastal Prairie Native Seed Nursery, plant native wildflowers and grasses, remove invasive species, build and repair preserve improvements, and ensure the safety of our preserve for visitors of all ages.
Where: Coastal Prairie Conservancy Indiangrass Preserve - 31975 Hebert Road, Waller, TX 77484. (Preserve stewardship days are also held at other Coastal Prairie Conservancy preserves with advance notice.)
When: July 18 & 21, 2023 | 9 am - 1 pm
Who: All individuals are welcome to participate - no experience necessary.
Physical Requirements: Bending, kneeling, or sitting on the ground; some light lifting.
What to wear: Closed-toed shoes, tall socks, long pants, long-sleeved shirt, hat.
What to bring: Packed lunch or snacks, reusable water bottle, and work gloves (or we have pairs to borrow). All other tools are provided.

Latino Conservation Week 10th Anniversary Celebration
Join us on the evening of July 20th as we commemorate a decade of community gatherings of partners, allies, and outdoor lovers. We are proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Latino Conservation Week, an initiative dedicated to empowering the Latino community to engage with the great outdoors and actively participate in safeguarding our precious natural resources.
During this week, community, non-profit, faith-based, and government organizations and agencies hold events throughout the country. From hiking and camping to community roundtables and film screenings, these activities promote conservation efforts in their community and provide an opportunity for Latinos to show their support for permanently protecting our land, water, and air.
Come join us for a night of live music, food, and dancing, and be part of this momentous occasion, celebrating a decade of fostering a stronger bond between the Latino community and the great outdoors. Together, we can continue making a positive impact on our natural environment and ensure its preservation for generations to come.
