Participants can explore the wetlands through bilingual guided walks, birdwatching, nature talks, hands-on activities, arts and crafts, and interactive science experiences. From discovering the tiny creatures living in the water to learning about the plants and birds that depend on the estuary, there will be something for every age and interest .One of the highlights will be a hands-on experience in the estuary, where participants can help plant 50 native plants, take part in a water quality demonstration, and spend time with biologists. Local conservation experts will help participants understand what these activities reveal about the health and importance of our wetlands. Families can also explore local biodiversity using iNaturalist, connect with conservation organizations, and discover nature up close through specimens, microscopes, field guides, and other educational tools. Latino Conservation Week is more than a celebration of nature. It is a celebration of community, culture, and collective action.¡Evento comunitario gratuito para todos! Free community event for all! Join San Diego Bird Alliance and our partners for a fun, free, family-friendly morning celebrating the incredible biodiversity of Mission Bay's wetlands! Explore Kendall-Frost Marsh through hands-on activities and learn about the plants, animals, and habitats that make this ecosystem so special. This bilingual (English/Spanish) community event offers opportunities to connect with nature while contributing to community science during California Biodiversity Day. Whether you're an experienced naturalist or visiting the wetlands for the first time, everyone is welcome!

Meeting Point & Schedule:

The fun kicks off at the Field Station, so come meet us there! We'll start with activities on-site, then head out together as a group to Crown Point, birdwatching along the way. Running late? No worries. Just head straight to the Field Station, where our staff will be waiting to guide you and bring you along with the group. Activities include:Bird-watching walk,Fish seining demonstration, Invertebrate exploration,Native plant walk, Nature observations with iNaturalist,Water quality talk and demonstration Educational activities for all ages What to bring and wear: Water bottle Sunscreen Weather-appropriate attire You might get your feet wet. Choose your shoes with this information in mind.

This event also connects to California’s 30x30 goal, conserving 30% of California’s lands and coastal waters by 2030. ? By getting to know the places around us, documenting their biodiversity, and building community, we can be part of the larger conservation story.

River Restoration Days are a volunteer stewardship event jointly organized by the San Joaquin River Conservancy and the Sierra Resource Conservation District, held at the Conservancy's Headquarters, to support ongoing river‑corridor restoration. Volunteers typically help with activities such as invasive vegetation removal, trail and access maintenance, habitat restoration, fuel‑load reduction, and general site cleanup—work that aligns with SRCD’s larger restoration and land‑management services on Conservancy properties.

The event is part of the Conservancy’s broader nature‑based solutions and community‑engagement efforts and is listed on the Conservancy’s upcoming events calendar as “River Restoration Volunteer Day”.

This month's river restoration day will also include a free native plant giveaway.

Participants will also have to opportunity to canoe with RiverTree Volunteers on a guided paddle that connects people to the river. For a lot of our paddlers it is the first time they have been on the San Joaquin at all — and it is hard to stay indifferent to a river once you have been out on it.

Pease wear appropriate clothing and shoes for outdoor activities.
