Rutas y Raíces

In celebration of Latino Conservation Week, Mountain Mamas and Reinas Who Hike will host an intergenerational community hike. Our intention is to engage participants of all ages, from our elders to young children. Building the bridge from our roots to our futuro. This initiative honors the deep ancestral roots and historic contributions of the Latino community on public lands. By bridging past stewardship with future conservation leadership, the event empowers mothers and families to connect with nature, foster environmental stewardship across generations, and reclaim cultural presence in national parks. We will begin the hike with a meditation given by a local Latina yoga instructor at the base of the mountain. We are hoping to have wholesome snacks with nutritional value and end the hike with drinks to support immunity, digestion, and holistic health provided by a local health and wellness company which is Latina owned.

Educating with Eternal Purpose: Faith That Forms. Hands That Care.

Christian Education Week + Latino Conservation Week

This year, our Christian Education Week celebration will be connected with Latino Conservation Week, creating an opportunity for faith, education, science, and care for creation to come together in meaningful and practical ways.

Under the theme “Faithfulness That Shapes Generations,” we will focus on the affirmation “Inspired by His Faithfulness.” God’s faithfulness forms us, sustains us, and guides us. In response, we are called to live with purpose and to responsibly care for the creation He has entrusted to us.

The experience will include four interactive stations designed to engage both our students and faculty, with the Science Department and science classes playing an important role in connecting faith, learning, environmental awareness, and action.

Four Interactive Stations

1. Care for Our Coasts
An educational station focused on beach and coastal conservation, the impact of waste and pollution, and practical ways we can help protect marine ecosystems.

2. Light Matters
A station centered on light pollution and its impact on wildlife, helping participants understand how artificial light can affect animal behavior, habitats, and natural ecosystems.

3. Plant with Purpose
Participants will have the opportunity to plant a seed or small plant as a symbol of stewardship, growth, responsibility, and hope for future generations.

4. Inspired by Creation
An art-based station where participants can draw or create something inspired by God’s creation, connecting creativity, reflection, and environmental awareness.

The goal is for each station to go beyond sharing information and encourage a practical response: to learn, care, create, and act.
