
Pollinators & Popsicles
Join us on July 21 at 3:30 p.m. for a walking tour of our Coral Gables Experimental Pollinator Patch located at the Toledo and Alava Open Space. Learn about the countless species that help pollinate our beautiful native trees and plants!
Our speakers will be our guides and teach us about the importance of native pollinators. Using the iNaturalist app participants will identify and track different species of plants and animals found in and around the pollinator patch.

Celebrate Latino Conservation Week at Frying Pan Farm Park
Join us at Frying Pan Farm Park as we celebrate Latino Conservation Week on July 16th! We will have Spanish language tours of the farm and free wagon rides in the afternoon! For more details, see below!
Meet us at the Gazebo in the Farmyard for free Spanish language tours of the farm at 12PM and at 2PM. We will learn about the history of the farm as well as how we tend to the animals in our care.
Get a free Wagon Ride in the afternoon. Spanish-Language rides are at 12:30. 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30. English language rides are at 12:45, 1:15, 1:45, 2:15, 2:45. You can join by going to the country store and reserving a ride. We go all around the park including our trails, the woods, the crop fields and through the farmyard.
Frying Pan is located at 2709 West Ox Road close to Centreville Road and Route 28. There are two entrances to the park, one at the Visitor Center and one at the farm where the animals are, you will want to come through the Farm entrance. You can park anywhere in the large gravel parking lot next to the farm!

This outing is a part of the "Es Mi Parque" event, hosted in Patapsco Valley State Park on the Ridge Trail in the Avalon Area. Wildlife photographer & Latino Outdoors leader, Michael Ocasio, will be guiding this hike with tips and trips for capturing outdoor scenes and moments.
All cameras welcome, including phone cameras!

Caminata Guiada: Plantas Nativas de Baja California
Comencemos la Semana de la Conservación Latinx con un paseo por las plantas de Baja California el sábado, 16 de julio a las 8:30am con la gerente de GNN de California Botanic Garden, Mariana Ramirez Rodriguez. Camina con Mariana en la sección Baja del Jardín para aprender sobre plantas maravillosas. Prepárate para admirar estas plantas, desde la rosa de castilla en peligro de extinción hasta el extrano cirio. Nota: este tour se dará en español.
Kick off Latinx Conservation Week with a Baja California Plant walking tour on Saturday, July 16th at 8:30am with California Botanic Garden Nursery Manager, Mariana Ramirez Rodriguez. Join Mariana out in the Baja section of the Garden to learn about amazing plants. Get ready to fall in love with the endangered Desert Rose and the funky Boojum Tree. Please note: this tour will be given in Spanish.
Ruby Throated Hummingbirds
Sandy retired with 20 years of service as an Environmental Educator with Dauphin County Parks and Recreation at Wildwood Park in Harrisburg. She is a trained federally licensed bird bander and field ornithologist with over 25 years of experience in bird research and education. Sandy conducts several research projects in the central Pennsylvania area. In addition to songbirds and saw-whet owls, she has been studying the ruby-throated hummingbird migration as well as chasing, catching and banding wintering hummingbird species that are reported in Pennsylvania. Her program will be about these hummingbirds. Bring a chair or sit in the grass.
