Celebremos juntos Latino Conservation Week 2024
Únete a nosotros para disfrutar de Hike & Yoga: Explora, Medita, Conecta. Una actividad diseñada para explorar diversas técnicas que fortalecen nuestra salud y bienestar mientras conectamos con la naturaleza. Comenzaremos a las 10AM con un hike seguido de una sesion de Yoga. También tendremos un journaling workshop: conexión cuerpo-naturaleza y culminaremos el día con una sesión de meditación.
Se provera snacks, almuerzo, bebidas y los materiales de trabajo. Se les invita a traer sus yoga mats si los tiene, sino, podemos prestar algunos. Cupos limitados sólo para 30 personas.

Abrazando la Naturaleza/Embracing the Nature
Abrazando la naturaleza: La naturaleza como inspiración en un equilibrio emocional y desarrollo de liderazgo. Abrazando la naturaleza es un evento público digirido a la mujer hispana, creando un espacio seguro y acogedor donde las mujeres puedan conectar consigo mismas, con la naturaleza, asi como crear un ambiente de convivencia que ayude en el fortalecimiento de su autoestima y en el desarrollo de su liderazgo con su familia y su comunidad.
Se llevará a cabo en diferentes actividades durante la semana de conservación latina, empezaremos con una actividad familiar donde celebraremos la riqueza de la cultura hispana ofreciendo una variedad de entretenimientos tales como musica en vivo, comida, actividades de arte y rifa. Posteriormete ofeceremos dos talleres en el que aprenderemos a fortalecer los lazos familiares con actividades divertidas y conversaciones que traen unidad. Dentro de estas pláticas brindaremos un espacio para que las mujeres se conceten con su esencia, con su propósito y se empoderen para ser agentes de cambios positivos en su nucleo familiar y en su comunidad. Asi mismo, llevaremos a cabo una caminata en el que podrán disfrutar de la compañía de otras mujeres mientras conversan de hábitos que cambiarán su vida y su salud.
Astronomy Night at Candlestick Point State Recreation Area
Join us for an evening under the stars as we explore the night sky's most captivating sights! The San Francisco Amateur Astronomers will be guiding us through the night sky and we will be viewing the Moon, Saturn, Venus and stars.
Telescopes are provided but feel free to bring your own.
Dress in layers as it can get chilly by the bay.
Somos Semillas: Latino Conservation Through Nuestras Historias
Hola familia! Join the Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club in celebrating its Third Annual Latino Conservation Week Event! Estamos muy excited to host another FREE and unique event that invites our communidad to connect en nuestra pasión for the environment, storytelling, y conservacion and cultura.
This year, we are looking forward to hosting another special event with experiences in nature. Activities include connecting with our ancestral history through our individual and collective storytelling, identity, and indigenous knowledge. Reflection on memories through herbs and plants forms a connection with one’s story/background from the past and brings awareness in the present and the importance and value of conservation with the current efforts of protecting nearby nature en nuestra communidad.
Invitamos familias y gente of all ages. This event is specifically for folks who identify as latine/x, afro-latine, chicane. If you like the vibes, join us on September 14th!

Medicinal Plant & Herbal Drinks Workshop
Join the HSI team for an immersive workshop where you'll explore the world of medicinal plants and herbs! Learn about the healing properties of various plants and how to incorporate them into delicious drinks. Guided by the Bloom Club, you'll discover traditional and modern uses of these powerful ingredients. Perfect for anyone interested in natural remedies, wellness, or simply curious about the power of plants.
Yoga en el Jardín
Relax and rejuvenate with a calming yoga session hosted by HSI and the Bloom Club in the LaFourcade Community Garden. Let the garden’s serenity inspire physical and mental well-being! Mats are available as supplies last.
Journaling with HSI
Join the HSI team for a special week-long journaling activity in honor of Latino Conservation Week! Take time to reflect on the significance of conservation efforts within the Latino community. This activity provides a meaningful opportunity to explore personal connections to nature and cultural heritage, through the power of journaling. Bring an open mind and a willingness to connect with the world around you. Journals will be provided.
California Biodiversity Week (September 7 - 15) 2024: Discover the Nature of California
Saturday September 7th is California Biodiversity Day, a time to inspire discovery and connection to the nature of California. Organizations and individuals across California host and participate in events throughout the week, such as guided nature walks, art and family-friendly games, cultural demonstrations, restoration efforts, bioblitzes, and more. This year, California Biodiversity Day events and outreach efforts are happening between September 7th - 15th!
