James River - Scenic View Art Adventure

During the Rice River Centers summer camp, in celebration of Latino Conservation Week and the 50th anniversary of wild & scenic rivers, we will be hosting a special two hour culture and arts river lesson exploring the hertiage, stories, scenic views and art forms (through textured paint mediums) of our beautiful James River.

To celebrate LCW 2018, the Anacostia Watershed Society in partnership with the Chispa program of the Maryland League of Conservation Voters and the US Forest Service will hold two pontoon boat trips on the state Wild & Scenic Anacostia River! Constituents can also learn more about Conservation Colorado's 2018 Legislative Scorecard to find out if their legislators voted to protect Colorado's public lands, water, and air this legislative session.

Knowing Your Stream - Connecticut River Watershed

Girls Inc has partnered with the USFWS NWRS to create a program that empowers girls in science! This program will teach young girls the importance of watersheds, stream formation and the effects of pollution in our water with an interactive watershed table demonstration.

Trails & Tacos- Una Caminata Y Tacos

Latino Conservation Week-Disfrutando y Conservando Nuestra Tierra- is set for 7/14-22, 2018 with a great local event on Sat., 7/14. Join Los Padres ForestWatch and Santa Barbara County Trails Council for an easy/moderate hike along Rattlesnake Canyon with a gathering and tacos lunch at Skofield Park afterwards. Enjoy the outdoors and learn how you can help protect our land, water and air; event is sponsored by REI, Figueroa Mountain Brewery, and Hispanic Access Foundation. Latino Conservation Week: Hike with LO NYC at Harriman State Park!

Join Latino Outdoors NYC on Saturday, July 14th for a beginner hike at Harriman State Park in Stony Point, NY. This event is FREE!

Meeting Location: La Finca del Sur (110 E 138th Street, Bronx NY 10451)

Meeting Time: 9am SHARP - we will provide transportation to and from La Finca so please be on time!

What to bring: (please email us if you have any questions about this)

-WATER WATER WATER (seriously, we need to stay hydrated out there!) Sports drinks are also good.
-Packed lunch (preferably something you can carry in a backpack)
-Comfortable sneakers or hiking boots
-Dress according to the weather
-Sunscreen, hat and sunglasses
-Optional - bathingsuit and towel in case we stop by a lake for a swim!
-This hike is open to people of all levels of experience in the outdoors, including those who have never hiked before!

Free Lecture, Endangered Species of the Coachella Valley

Families are invited to the Mecca Library to learn about local plants and animals that are in need of protection. Visitors will learn about endangered species from the Salton Sea to Mt San Jacinto and how conservation efforts enhance their survival. An illustrated slide show will be followed with a game for children to play “Operation Survival,” introducing them to the endangered species that call the Desert home. All will receive a reusable water bottle especially designed for hiking, featuring a chart showing how much water different ages of hikers should be drinking.
