Hike with us on this educational 6-mile round trip walk along Mission San Juan’s historic acequias.
Latino Outdoors will provide refreshments and snacks prior to the hike.

Las Montañas: Latino Conservation Week Kick-Off
Join us Saturday, July 16 from 10AM-2PM to get involved in the field of conservation! Bilingual guided hikes, food, and activities galore!
Celebrate the start of Latino Conservation Week with park rangers at on Saturday, July 16 from 10AM to 2PM at the Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center at King Gillette Ranch in Calabasas.
This FREE event is open to everyone of all ages to celebrate and highlight the Latinx community and the field of conservation.
Park rangers will guide attendees on bilingual hikes, help visitors identify common wildlife, and highlight how we can protect nature in our daily lives. Join in on festivities with hands-on workshops, crafts, and free wildlife guides! Food vendors will be available throughout the day to keep those energy levels high.
Guest speakers include Miguel Ordeñana, the biologist who helped discover LA's famous mountain lion P-22 in Griffith Park. Park staff will discuss ways we are monitoring wildlife post-wildfire and how to identify edible native plants found in the mountains.
Local organizations will highlight diverse ways folks from all skill levels can participate in conservation from their own homes and ways to attract monarchs. This event is powered by organizations including the Santa Monica Mountains Fund, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, National Forest Foundation and Heal the Bay.

Birds and Butterflies - a nature walk in the Rio Salado
Join us for a morning walk in the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area and learn more about the birds and other wildlife in the area. This will be a bilingual Spanish-English nature walk.
Family Stewardship Day
Latino Outdoors Colorado is partnering with the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge to host a family stewardship day for Latino Conservation Week!
We will start the day with a short hike around the refuge and then make our way back to the visitor center to help paint rocks for the refuge's new pollinator garden. Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to explore the refuge visitor center and meet the resident ferrets!
This event is free and will begin at 8:30 a.m. and go until 11:30 a.m.

Caminata Nocturna con una Tortuga Marina
Una experiencia única: Una caminata nocturna en la playa para observar el proceso de anidación de una tortuga marina.

Una caminata guiada es un programa único que les permite a nuestros visitantes aprender y observar el proceso de anidación de las tortugas marinas. Con la aprobación de permisos estatales, los observadores de Loggerhead Marinelife Center patrullan la playa de Juno Beach para buscar a las tortugas mientras los visitantes disfrutan de una presentación informativa. El evento será de 9:00 p.m. a 12:00 a.m.
Este año estaremos participando en Latino Conservation Week 2022: Una iniciativa de Hispanic Access Foundation, creada para apoyar la participación de la comunidad Latina en actividades al aire libre y actividades que ayuden a proteger nuestros recursos naturales. Los niños deberán ser mayores de 10 años para poder asistir y todos los participantes deben poder caminar en la playa. (Contamos con silla de ruedas para playa).
No existe ninguna relación entre la actividad de anidación de una tortuga marina con la fase de la luna, el tiempo o la marea. Todas las noches tenemos la misma probabilidad de ver una tortuga aunque no podemos garantizar que veremos una esa noche.
Evening Turtle Walks: Latino Conservation Week
Take a once in a lifetime walk with sea turtles.

A Turtle Walk is a unique program that allows our visitors to learn about and observe the nesting and egg-laying process of sea turtles. With the approval of State issued permits, experienced Loggerhead Marinelife Center scouts will patrol our designated section of Juno Beach searching for sea turtles while visitors enjoy an informative presentation on the plight of sea turtles. This event will be from 9:00 p.m. -12:00 a.m.
This year we will be participating in Latino Conservation Week 2022: A Hispanic Access Foundation initiative created to support the Latino community getting into the outdoors and participating in activities to protect our natural resources. We will offer a free Turtle Walk in Spanish. We can only accommodate 30 people. Children must be 10 years or older to attend walks and all participants must be able to walk up to half a mile. There is no relationship between sea turtle nesting activity and the phase of the moon, the weather, or the tides. All nights have the same odds of the group seeing a sea turtles, however it is not guaranteed.

Educational Hike on the Rocky Peak Trail
Come join SUWA and HEAL Utah for an educational hike along the Rocky Peak Trail in the Three Peaks Recreation Area. We will be exploring the topics of conservation of the nearby Antelope Mountain Range, conservation and its close links with Latinx culture and heritage, as well as explore the history of the nearby Old Spanish National Historic Trail. The hike is an easy to moderate trail and will take approximately an hour and a half to two hours. A dual-sided brochure about the covered topics will be provided in Spanish and English to help drive conversation and camaraderie. Let's get out on the trail, together!
