Great Sierra River Cleanup, Merced River

Event Description:

The Great Sierra River Cleanup comes to the Merced River on September 20, 2025

The Upper Merced River Watershed Council is excited to participate in the GREAT SIERRA RIVER CLEANUP. Held in conjunction with the statewide California Coastal Cleanup Commission and the Sierra Nevada Alliance, it is the largest volunteer event in the state!

The Merced River cleanup will take place along the Bureau of Land Management segment of the Merced Wild & Scenic River area, located along Highway 140, west of Yosemite National Park.

  • We’ll meet at the Merced River Recreation Area parking lot at Briceburg and provide all of the gear you need for a fun morning of stewardship.

  • All ages welcome. (Children under 18 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult).

  • Snacks, water, and a light lunch will be provided for volunteers.

  • REGISTRATION REQUIRED and a waiver must be signed by all participants.


Important notes:

  • Wear sunscreen, hat, long pants, closed-toed shoes

  • A signed waiver is required at check-in for adults and children

  • No dogs, please
