Celebrate Latino Conservation week with a Slough Slog!

Event Description:

 In honor of Latino Conservation week, we invite you to join us for a wet walk in the Everglades! Off the beaten path through the Cypress dome is a world you’ve never imagined! Come explore this vast ecosystem during a guided walk into an environment where air plants, orchids, and buttress roots show you the way. Este parque es suyo, venga a visitar!

All participants must bring the following:

  • Loose clothing
  • Water
  • Sturdy close toed, lace-up shoes
  • Long pants
  • Hat

The following items are suggested:

  • Sunscreen
  • Long sleeve shirt
  • Insect repellent
  • Binoculars
  • snacks

Weather permitting, we will meet at Ernest F. Coe Visitor at 9:00 a.m. for a brief introductory talk before heading out to a cypress dome.

Participants MUST wear long pants and closed-toed shoes.

This event will proceed as planned through light showers but will be canceled if lighting is present. Participants are encouraged to bring a water bottle, a poncho, bug and sun protection.

There is a minimum age of 12 years old for safety purposes and a limited amount of space.
