Event Description:
Join Latino Outdoors NYC THIS SUNDAY, July 14th as we combine forces with the Northeast Chapter of the American Littoral Society to help restore the shorelines of Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. This event is FREE! We'll get to go on a short boat ride, then wade in the water planting marsh grasses to help control erosion. There are 20,000 plugs of grass that need to be planted by the end of the month, so the more helpers, the merrier! It should be fun, so sign up soon! Everyone ages 7 and up is welcome to attend. We will meet shortly before 11:00 am at the headquarters for the American Littoral Society, which you can reach easily via public transit (Take the “A” train to the Broadchannel station):28 W 9th RdFar Rockaway, NY 11693.We plan to wrap up and be back on land by 4pm.Wear comfortable clothes that can get wet and dirty. Wear water shoes, or sturdy sandals if you have them. DO NOT wear flipflops - the mud will steal them! Come sun and heat-ready: sunscreen, hat and/or glasses. Bring a snack and/or a lunch, and a refillable water bottle. Please RSVP to let us know you are coming, and so we can share the phone numbers where you can reach us that day: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/latino-conservation-week-jamaica-bay-tickets-64587875073Questions?
