
Big Tree Park Urban Hike & Bird Watching
Join us for a day on the trails and bird watching at Big Tree Park! This is a family friendly event.
What to expect:
The trail is paved and is perfect for all types of wheel access like strollers or skates.
Bring your own binoculars for a better view of the birds but binoculars are not necessary.
There are bathroom facilities at the park.
Please make sure to bring water for hydration and snacks if needed.
Remember to dress comfortably, wear sunscreen, and mosquito repellent.

Paddle Cleanup with Latinos Aventureros and Catawba Riverkeeper
Join us for a paddle cleanup adventure on September 19th in partnership with Latinos Aventureros and Catawba Riverkeeper as part of Latino Conservation Week! We'll explore 5.5 miles of the French Broad River, paddling through class 1-2 shoals and rapids while helping keep the river clean. This event offers an opportunity to connect with nature, learn about local conservation efforts, and make a positive impact on the environment. We'll conclude the day with a riverside lunch and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding flora and fauna. All gear will be provided.

Bilingual Birding by Bike in Otay Valley Regional Park
Join us for a loop at Otay Valley Regional Park, starting from the Ranger Station and heading East. Bring your own bicycle and helmet or borrow your gear from us. Folks from the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition will be present to teach about bike safety, and birders from San Diego Audubon will tell you all about the birds we see on the ride. Binoculars will be available for your use. Our bilingual guides are able to speak English or Spanish with you.

Connect with nature through painting, a native plant walk, and an opportunity to add observations on iNaturalist during this free, bilingual (English/Spanish) family event “Pintura, Plantitas, y Charla” happening at Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge on Sunday, September 15 from 8:00 am to 10:30 am. Special guest, Dr. Mariana Delgado Fernandez from Expediciones Botanicas will come from Baja California and lead the native plant walk. This event is also supported by the San Diego Natural History Museum, San Diego Audubon Society, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and naturalist Hector Valtierra.
