Learning basics of fishing from U.S Fish & Wildlife Service! We will provide rods and instruction. Perfect for beginners. Drop-ins welcome!
About this event
Instructor will be on boardwalk by Lake Mary. Rods and bait will be provided. No live bait is allowed on refuge lakes.
Directions to Lake Mary from Visitor Center:
- Drive south towards housing developments
- Turn left to drive east
- At 4-way stop, turn left onto Havana St
- Turn right onto Lake Vehicle Access and park by Lake Mary Education Center
- Walk south along path toward board walk

Drop-in Archery/Tiro con Arco
Minimum age for this event is 8 years old. The range is first come-first served. Youth under 16 should be accompanied by an adult. No more than two people at a target and shoot no more than 3 arrows at a time as a courtesy to others waiting.
Directions to Archery Range from Visitor Center:
- Drive south from Visitor Center parking lot (towards housing developments)
- Turn left and begin driving east
- At 4-way stop, turn right onto Havana St
- Drive south until you see Archery Range parking on your left
Reservado para personas mayores de 8 años. El campo de tiro es por orden de llegar. Los jóvenes menores de 16 años deben estar acompañados por un adulto. No mas de 2 personas en un objetivo y no tirar mas de 4 flechas por turno como cortesía a los demas en fila.

Monumental Hike at Mount Laguna
Join us Saturday, July 23rd, 2022 on a hike to learn more about the proposed Chaparral Pacific Crest National Monument with guest speakers from Los Coyotes Cahuilla Cupeños Tribe, Latino Outdoors, and The Chaparral Lands Conservancy.
Junior Ranger Day/Día del Guardabosques Juvenil!
The Junior Ranger program creates hands-on activities for children at local refuges and parks. Children can earn a physical badge and a sense of ownership of their public lands.
Junior Ranger packets can be found at the information desk of the Visitor Center. From there, complete the tasks around the refuge! Once you're done, take it back to the information desk to be officially sworn in as a Junior Ranger of Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.
This is a self-guided and self-paced activity. The Visitor Center is open from 9 am to 4 pm.
Observación De Aves Para Familias En City Heights!
Celebre la semana de #LatinoConservationWeek con un evento familiar de observación de aves en Manzanita Canyon en City Heights!
- Acompaña a una naturalista de San Diego Canyonlands en una excursión educativa, divertida y familiar en Manzanita Canyon, donde observaremos algunas de las aves locales que llaman a San Diego su hogar. Aprende el uso correcto de los binoculares, los nombres de nuestras aves y los sonidos que hacen!
- Este evento está dirigido a familias y relativos de toda edad que estén interesados(as) en pasar un buen rato aprendiendo sobre las aves nativas! Tendremos binoculares disponibles para usar durante el evento!
- Los participantes menores de 18 años deben tener un padre o tutor que firme una forma de permiso para poder participar en el evento. Por favor firme, y entregue la forma antes de que comience el evento. Escribe a jennifer@sdcanyonlands para recibir copia de la forma de permiso para jóvenes.

Join us for a 0.5 guided walk on the Redwood Access trail (ADA Accessible) in Prairie Creek Redwood State Park. Come learn the about the resilient powers of the old growth redwood forest. This guided walk will be followed by a game of Loteria at our campfire center. No RSVP required. JULY 16th only

Bond & Build: Chispa AZ Grand Canyon Camping Trip
Like many public lands, the Grand Canyon is a beautiful place full of wonder, sacredness and inspiration but also a reminder of displacement, denial of heritage rights and political oppression for indigenous peoples. We will hold this balance in mind as we come together to bond and build, learning more about the work Chispa is doing in Arizona and on a National landscape; as well as holding space for our indigenous relatives to share some of their work and opportunities for collaboration, while camping.
Latino Conservation Week - Kayaking event

Join us for a fun Kayaking adventure with trained LL Bean staff.
