Join FLLT staff and the Cayuga Bird Club on a guided birding walk at the Lindsay-Parsons Biodiversity Preserve, with Spanish-language interpretation available as needed. Learn about migratory birds that travel between the United States and Latin America, and how to recognize different bird calls in their local habitat. Email juliadearagon@fllt.org to register!

Guided easy hike led by Finger Lakes Land Trust staff and Spanish-language interpretation by Fernando de Aragón, available as needed. We’ll set out from South Hill Cider and explore the neighboring Thayer Preserve which features a peaceful bedrock stream bed with small waterfalls and a mature forest with ample shade. After a one-mile hike, we’ll return to South Hill Cider for drinks and socializing. This event is open to all. Join us for the hike, happy hour, or both!

Join us the evening of July 20th to celebrate a community gathering of partners, allies, and outdoor lovers. Latino Conservation Week was created to support the Latino community getting into the outdoors and participating in activities to protect our natural resources. Come celebrate an evening of shared joy, connection, and passion for the importance of our nation’s natural resources for people everywhere.

During this week, community, non-profit, faith-based, and government organizations and agencies hold events throughout the country. From hiking and camping to community roundtables and film screenings, these activities promote conservation efforts in their community, and provide an opportunity for Latinos to show their support for permanently protecting our land, water, and air.

COVID-19 Guidance: We will follow local health regulations to ensure the health and safety of our guests. Hand sanitizer and masks will be available.

Join us for an early morning walk in the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area and learn more about the area and the birds that call it home or that stop by there for a visit.

Bird experts from Arizona Game and Fish and Audubon Southwest will be on hand to help you learn more about the birds and how to identify them. This is a family friendly event open to people of all ages and the program will be conducted in both English and Spanish.

We will provide light snacks and cold drinks, but please bring a refillable water bottle, and wear a hat, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes. We look forward to seeing you at the Rio!

In participating in this event, you are potentially participating with individuals vaccinated and unvaccinated. Use of masks is encouraged. If you are experiencing any possible COVID symptoms or are sick, you should not attend the event. You are responsible for contacting the leaders to report a positive COVID test.

Participate in hands-on conservation with us and Latino Outdoors! Join us all in the morning for a cleanup of Whitewater River, and enjoy the cooling waters and relaxing atmosphere for the rest of the day. Join Whitewater Preserve and Saving Slowpoke for a chance to participate in some wildlife encounters and learn more about how we can further work together towards the conservation and protection of desert wildlife and wildlands for generations to come! The desert wildlife have amazing adaptations to survive this harsh environment, with the iconic desert tortoise demonstrating their incredible resilience. Though they are well suited for their natural habitats, they face many challenges created by human-impact. Thanks to grassroots campaigns like Saving Slowpoke, the future of these fantastic animals is hopeful! Saving Slowpoke’s mission is to “educate the public on Mojave Desert Tortoise conservation and the importance of desert habitat with a focus on underrepresented communities in the high desert.”

¡Acompáñennos para la oportunidad de participar en encuentros con animales locales y aprender más sobre cómo podemos seguir trabajando juntos hacia la conservación y protección del desierto y su vida silvestre! Los animales del desierto están bien adaptados para vivir en este clima extremo, y el mejor ejemplo es la tortuga del desierto. A pesar de ser muy adecuado para sus hábitat naturales, todavía se enfrentan a desafíos causados por los seres humanos. Pero gracias a campañas como Saving Slowpoke todavía hay esperanza!  La misión de Saving Slowpoke es  “educar al público sobre la conservación del Desierto Mojave y la importancia de los hábitat del desierto con un enfoque en  las comunidades subrepresentadas”.

Ever wonder what goes on after-hours at Whitewater Preserve? Now is your chance to find out by joining us for our LCW Hike Nocturna. Participants will be led on a moderate hike by our rangers and naturalists, and learn more about the nocturnal life of our canyon. Hike begins at our ranger station at 5:30 pm. Reservations required. 

¿Alguna vez te has preguntado qué ocurre después del cierre de Whitewater Preserve? ¡Ahora es su oportunidad de descubrirlo acompañándonos a nosotros en nuestro LCW Caminata Nocturno! Los participantes serán conducidos en una caminata moderada por nuestros guardaparques y naturalistas, y aprenderán más sobre la vida nocturna de nuestro cañón. La caminata comienza en nuestra estación de guardabosques a las 5:30 pm. Es necesario registrarse.
