Birding Focus: We will be looking for year-round and summer resident birds, including woodpeckers, songbirds, and hawks. Binoculars will be available to borrow!

This event will be covering the Monarch butterfly, what people can do to help and also how it connects to some Mexican cultures and beliefs. 

The mountains of Southern California are islands of biodiversity, rising from the sea of desert around them. These "sky islands" are home to many lizards, plants, and other creatures found nowhere else on Earth.

Follow their story through hundreds of thousands of years of changing climate to see how they reached the places we find them today, see how unprecedented new climate shifts are threatening them in the present, and learn what you can do to help build a resilient future for lizards, plants, (and everyone else!)

Presented by Colin Barrows, a Coachella Valley naturalist with the Mt. San Jacinto Natural History Association and CactusToCloud, who advocates for the conservation of open spaces and native species by working with local agencies to advance habitat conservation, recreational trails planning, and promote community science to grow public understanding and appreciation of desert ecosystems.

Breathe Southern California (Breathe Socal) is a non-profit organization that promotes clean air and healthy lungs through education, research, technology, and advocacy.

We are collaborating with Energy Upgrade California to conduct an educational workshop focusing on the Time Of Use (TOU) for home energy efficiency.

Workshop goals include:

• Educating the community on air pollution and the effects on our health
• Educating the community on how air pollution is connected to our energy use
• Educating the community on what renewable energy is vs non-renewable
• Educating the community about the TOU and peak of energy use in their home
• Provide community with tips and resources to reduce energy and more info on TOU. 

We can all take part in reducing our energy at home during 4-9 pm the hours when demand is high and renewable resources are low.

Food in many cultures, including the Latino culture, is a way for us to preserve our heritage and culture by allowing us to share recipes through generations and keeping our rich traditions alive. Hola Amigos & amigas, come out and join us on a ride just for the Latinx community. The Boulder Mountainbike Alliance is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in our community. We’ve added a Latinx ride to create a safe space for riders that are underrepresented in Boulder, led by Latinx Ride Guides. Who is welcome? Anyone part of the Latinx community and people who want to practice speaking Spanish or identify with this culture. We'll ride beginner and family friendly trails in Boulder county and finish every ride with a small get together and BBQ. We'll provide the beer and the grill, you bring the food and fun! Having meaningful conversations that shape our views on who and what belongs in nature is more important now than ever. Who decides what is native and what is not native in nature? Why is it that a person that just relocated (migrated) to Los Angeles can have their offspring considered a “California Native,” but plants and animals will always be associated with their land of origin. Tune into a conversation with members of the Indigenous community in Los Angeles as they discuss what it means for plants and people to be Native or Non-native.
