While doing a guided walk, visitors will learn part of the history of the C&O canal and Great Falls. The talk will focus on the evolution of tourism in the area and how this was an incentive to protect and conserve this place that later became a National Park. After the walk, visitors will be welcome to enjoy the rest of the park including challenging hikes like Billy Goat Trail A or even a boat ride.

Mientras realizan un paseo guiado, los visitantes conocerán parte de la historia del canal C&O y de las Grandes Cataratas. La charla se centrará en la evolución del turismo en la zona y en cómo éste fue un incentivo para proteger y conservar este lugar que posteriormente se convirtió en Parque Nacional. Friends of the Inyo’s Latino Conservation Week Event is a FREE English-Spanish educational bilingual event to be held at Bishop City Park from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 23. It is called "Shepherds of Today!" (Pastores ¡De Hoy! in Spanish) and will give an overview of the history of shepherding in the Eastern Sierra, which was traditionally done primarily by Basques for a long time, but now is being done mainly by Peruvians. We will have a panel that will include folks who worked as sheepherders until recently but have transitioned into other jobs such as ranch hands and landscapers. We also are looking to have a sheep or two, perhaps a ewe and her lamb in a pen, for children to pet. Panelists will talk about their adventures in nature; how they have seen the landscape change due to diminished water supplies because of water extraction and climate change; how they keep herds from overgrazing and contaminating rivers and streams; how fencing of herds affects the migration patterns of other (wild) animals; etc. There will also be a resource fair to assist attendees from the local Hispanic community with a variety of services. This is a family-friendly event. All are welcome. 

BUGS Cooking Class

We're not cooking bugs! :) This is a FREE outdoor cooking class for families. Special outdoor activities will be available for children at BUGS site and Comba Park. Cooking supplies and ingredients will be provided. Must RSVP to Adriana Melendez (adriana_melendez@fws.gov) to confirm attendance.

Peques Nature Club Meet-Up

Join Peques Nature Club for a fun outdoor exploration activity. This is a child-led, bilingual, culturally-relevant space where children enjoy nature, play, and cultivate an appreciation for the beautiful outdoor spaces in the Treasure Valley. This meet-up is for caregivers and children of all ages- if you enjoy playing outdoors, then you'll fit right in! 

Nature Trail Hike

Hiking is just walking with people you enjoy. Grab a friend or bring the whole family for an enjoyable nature trail hike. Meet at the trailhead. Boise Parks & Recreation will offer a guided hike. We will start together and finish the hike at our own pace. Folks are invited to hike part of the trail or all of it! Remember to pack water and snacks to sustain you on your hike.

La segunda presentación es sobre "La importancia de la mayordomía ambiental." Elaborar un análisis integral sobre la vida pastoral en los dos ritmos importantes de vida: Ritmo de trabajo y ritmo de descanso.

Join the Southern Nevada Water Authority and the Springs Preserve for a week-long celebration of conservation, culture, and community in support of Latino Conservation Week, July 16-24.

Participate in FREE offerings during the week, including FREE admission to the Springs Preserve's trail system and the Botanical Garden. Space is limited for some activities, and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tickets are available July 16-18 and 22-24 at the Springs Preserve box office.
