Bilingual Birding by Bike in Otay Valley Regional Park
Join us for a loop at Otay Valley Regional Park, starting from the Ranger Station and heading East. Bring your own bicycle and helmet or borrow your gear from us. Folks from the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition will be present to teach about bike safety, and birders from San Diego Audubon will tell you all about the birds we see on the ride. Binoculars will be available for your use. Our bilingual guides are able to speak English or Spanish with you.

“Pintura, Plantitas, y Charla”
Connect with nature through painting, a native plant walk, and an opportunity to add observations on iNaturalist during this free, bilingual (English/Spanish) family event “Pintura, Plantitas, y Charla” happening at Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge on Sunday, September 15 from 8:00 am to 10:30 am. Special guest, Dr. Mariana Delgado Fernandez from Expediciones Botanicas will come from Baja California and lead the native plant walk. This event is also supported by the San Diego Natural History Museum, San Diego Audubon Society, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and naturalist Hector Valtierra.

Latino Outdoors Colorado is celebrating the last day of Latino Conservation Week and the fisrt day of Fall! Leaf changes are estimated to happen in this area during this time, so join us in exploring the trail to look at the changing foliage.
Some snacks will be provided (please provide your dietary restrictions in the registration)
Trail Info: South Saint Vrain Trail at Roosevelt National Forest

Distance: Trail is 10 miles long, but Aspen trees start about a mile in. We'll turn around depending on the time remaining for the outing and won't be completing the entire trail.
Elevation Gain: 1,561ft
Max Elevation: 10,243 ft
Skill Level: Moderate skill needed, but this will be a slow hike for all ages
Use: Hiking, mountain biking, and horse riding allowed. Lightly trafficked. Dogs should be on leash but some dogs are often times seen off leash on the trail.
Facilities: There are no toilets near this trail.
Terrain: The trail is un-paved and there a lot of trees and shade on this trail.
All ages and people are welcome!

This is a free opportunity to gather with Latino Outdoors Colorado community. There is NO entrance fee to the trail and NO parking permit required.
What should I bring to the event?
We recommend you bring:
- Water
- Lunch or snacks (we will provide some snacks, but you are welcome to bring your own.
- Sun protection (sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, protective clothing, or umbrella, etc.)
- Clothing layers
- Sturdy athletic shoes or hiking boots

Latino Outdoors Colorado is hosting a pottery session instructed by Ayanna Johnson as part of Latino Conservation Week! Ayanna is a potter who is passionate about sharing the therapeutic benefits of
working with clay through this ancient art form and has a small business, Black Indian, where she showcases her work. Ayanna will have suggestions on projects for this session, but participants can choose to make what they like, so come with your creativity! Join us whether it's your first time engaging with pottery, or if you have prior experience. Instruction will be available in English and Spanish.

Latinx Baltimore Boat Tour
In celebration of Latino Conservation Week, the Environmental Justice Journalism Initiative (EJJI) and Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) are hosting an environmentally-focused boat tour of Baltimore's waterways.
Set sail for a 90-minute cruise with fellow Latinx Baltimoreans. This boat tour is all about learning about our waterways, networking, and soaking in the scenic water views. During the tour, we'll engage in aquatic dredging and take a look at the life that populates our waterways.
