Heal the Bay Presents The 36th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day

Saturday, September 20, 2025 • 9:00 am

Coastal Cleanup Day is an international day of action to protect our oceans, watersheds, and wildlife from debris and plastic pollution. In collaboration with the California Coastal Commission and the Ocean Conservancy, Heal the Bay has proudly been the Los Angeles County Coordinator of this event for the past 36 years. This year, there are more than 70 cleanup sites throughout the county for you to choose from. Whether you want to tidy up the mountains, better your neighborhood, or spruce up the beach, we’ve got you covered!

On Saturday, September 20th, 2025, from 9 a.m. to noon, thousands of volunteers will help tackle Los Angeles’s marine debris crisis! Please contact ccd@healthebay.org with any questions.

Additionally, Hispanic Heritage Month, observed from September 15 to October 15, provides an opportunity for education, reflection, and celebration of Hispanic culture and achievements.

Latino Conservation Week is a national celebration that uplifts Latino connections to the outdoors and inspires action to protect our land, water, and air. Celebrate Latino Conservation Week by joining this rafting trip and admiring the Glenwood Canyon from a different perspective.

This trip is generously sponsored by Blazing Adventures and Defiance Rafting.

This trip is perfect for folks with little-to-no river experience who want to see the canyon from a new perspective, and interpretation services will be provided for Spanish speakers. The event begins in Glenwood Springs, and lunch will be provided after. Spots are limited — sign up soon!

In celebration of Latino Conservation Week, RFOV is offering a bilingual project in partnership with City of Glenwood Springs and Wilderness Workshop. Come and enjoy the outdoors while helping the City of Glenwood Springs to replant the Northern portion of Veltus Park with native trees, shrubs, grasses and forbs. Open to all with guaranteed translation services provided.

Volunteers are encouraged to park at the parking lot behind the Garfield County building on 7th St. and then walk to Veltus park. This project is also accessible via public transportation (see details below). RFOV and the City of Glenwood Springs will provide celebratory food and beverages after the project!

Registration: All participants of all ages must be registered individually.

Waiver: All participants must complete a waiver.

Cancellation: It takes a lot of staff and project partner time to plan and organize volunteer events. If you need to cancel, we ask that you let us know by emailing info@rfov.org 48 hours in advance so we can plan accordingly.

Public transportation: RFTA routes RG, BRT, L, HGB; stop: 8th Street + Pitkin Avenue, walk via 8th St. to Veltus Park at the corner of 8th St. and Midland Avenue.

Fresh Approach's new East Palo Alto Community Garden is open! Join Fresh Approach and Canopy to visit the new space and share your vision for the garden. To celebrate this exciting development, Canopy will be providing a brief fruit tree workshop and offering free five-gallon fruit trees to the first fifteen EPA households to attend.

¡Acompáñanos para un día al aire libre en Reimers Ranch, una hermosa reserva forestal a lo largo del río Pedernales!

Por la mañana aprenderemos sobre el monitoreo de la calidad del agua y la identificación de peces. También tendremos la oportunidad de refrescarnos en el río Pedernales y tiempo para jugar.

Qué le ofrecemos: Entrada gratuita. Área de mesas para picnic y acceso a baños. Snacks, agua y bebidas.

Qué tiene que traer: Vengan con ropa cómoda y zapatos cerrados (tennis) para poder participar de las actividades. Traigan repelente para mosquitos y botellas de agua recargables. Pueden traer traje de baño, toallas, zapatos para agua y un cambio de ropa.

Please note that this is a free event in English and Spanish.

Join us for a day of outdoor activities at Reimers Ranch!

In the morning, we'll learn about water quality monitoring and fish identification. We'll also have the opportunity to cool off in the Pedernales River and have time to play.

What we offer: Free admission. An area with picnic tables and restroom access. Snacks, water, and non-alcoholic beverages.

What to bring: Come with comfortable clothes, mosquito repellent, and closed shoes to participate in the activities. Please bring refillable water bottles. Feel free to bring bathing suits, towels, water shoes, and a change of clothes.
