Free Fishing Program
The NYSDEC I FISH NY program is excited to offer a free and engaging outdoor education experience through fishing. We provide all the necessary equipment, bait, and instruction will be in English and Spanish (1pm-2p). Space is limited for each one hour session. The event is first come, first served.

Explorando el norte
Discovering what it means to be a Latino exploring the outdoors. What is our role in conservation? How can we change the narrative? How we can we mobilize to be advocates for nature in our own lives? These questions and more are explored over a weekend trip camping in Northern Minnesota, taking in the sights of the Great Lakes.

LCW Archery Session
You are invited to join us for an exciting inflatable archery session in celebration of Latino Conservation Week. This activity is open to all ages and promises to be a lot of fun! It's a great way to have some fun, and learn about conservation!

To kick off Latino Conservation Week and Hispanic Heritage Month – Join HECHO (Hispanics Enjoying Camping Hunting & the Outdoors) and the Hispanic Access Foundation for a dynamic event! Learn from Latino leaders about the importance of protecting public lands, advocacy efforts and policy tools to permanently protect the places for us and future generations.

Latino Conservation Paint Night with Francisco Ramirez
Celebrate Latino Conservation Week by creating a painting of blueberries in the mountains with Francisco Ramirez. Originally from Oaxaca, Mexico, he is a local artist that now resides in Anchorage. You can find his art and murals around town. This paint night is for anybody with an interest in creating art about nature and learning more about Latino culture. All skill levels are welcome. Everyone is an artist!
For ages 10 and up. This event is $40/person; register at Recreation.gov.
Houston Bird Week Kick-off Party
Join Houston Audubon, Harris County Precinct 4 and Madres del Parque as we kick-off Houston Bird Week in style! Celebrate with many local conservation partners through nature games, crafts, dance performances and much more. Bring your family, friends, and neighbors to this FREE and one-of-a-kind event you’ll never forget.
In partnership with Houston Audubon, Madres del Parque, Harris County Precinct 4, Memorial Hermann, Texas Master Naturalist, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Student Conservation Association, CRECEN, Connect Community, Octavio Palomo, MARLA, Baker Ripley, Galveston Bay Estuary Program, and Latino Outdoors
Visit Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge
We will visit the Buenos Aires National Wildlife Refuge to learn about conservation efforts done at the borderlands, we will explore the refuge and do some wildlife sightseeing.
Refuge staff will guide us around the trails and we will make some time to visit the Borderwall in the area to learn about the environmental impacts of border walls.
Lunch and transportation are provided.
Family Day at Kings Beach State Recreation Area/ Día de familia en el área de recreación estatal de Kings Beach
ENGLISH:
Family day at Kings Beach State Recreation Area is a bilingual after school event dedicated to spending time together learning about how to take care of nature, wildlife and our communities. We will have educational opportunities to learn, and practice leave no trace, bear awareness and campfire safety. There will also be a Jr. Ranger nature journaling activity! Light refreshments and snacks will be provided. This event is FREE and open to the public. There is a $10 a day or $3 an hour parking fee at Kings Beach State Recreation Area so carpooling is recommended.

El día de familias en el Área Recreativa Estatal de Kings Beach es un evento bilingüe después de la escuela dedicado a pasar tiempo juntos aprendiendo sobre cómo cuidar la naturaleza, la vida silvestre y nuestras comunidades. Tendremos oportunidades educativas para aprender sobre los osos, recrear sin dejar huellas, y seguridad con las fogatas. ¡También habrá actividades para Jr. Rangers como creando un diario para la naturaleza! Se proporcionarán refrescos y aperitivos ligeros. Este evento es GRATUITO. Hay una tarifa de estacionamiento de $10 por día o $3 por hora en el Área Recreativa Estatal de Kings Beach, por lo que se recomienda compartir el automóvil.
