Free bilingual programming for families on September 17, 2024 in honor of Latino Conservation Week. Join us for an interpretative walk, nature art, stations on birds, plankton, and so much more!

Bring a friend, bring 5, bring your brother, bring your mom…on this exploratory hiking trip we will hike up the ever popular, very rewarding, at times steep, Table Rock Trail to the top view point AND we will explore the lesser known Quarry Loop Trail to make a full loop.

(Please allow enough time to arrive, park & prepare for the 6:00 PM starting time.)

What to Bring: Wear sturdy (tennis/hiking) shoes & comfortable clothing. A small pack to carry water, snacks, sunscreen & any other personal belongings is recommended.

Accessibility: Trail is 3.5 miles with 885 ft of elevation gain & rated moderately challenging on the AllTrails site. Parking and restrooms are located at the trailhead.

Traiga a un amigo, traiga a 5, traiga a su hermano, traiga a su mamá... en este viaje de senderismo exploratorio, caminaremos por el popular, muy gratificante, a veces empinado sendero de Table Rock hasta el mirador superior Y exploraremos al menos conocido sendero de Quarry Loop para un circuito completo.

Join Peques Nature Club for an outdoor family-friendly adventure. What can you expect? Peques, pelotas, and paletas! We need peques (kids) of all ages to come out and play games with all sorts of pelotas (balls) on an open field. Bring your own pelotas-we’ll have a couple to share as well. We’ll enjoy paletas (Mexican popsicles) to cool down. Dairy-free options available.

Esperamos a "peques" (niños y niñas) de todas las edades para salir y jugar con todo tipo de pelotas en un campo abierto. Traiga sus propias pelotas, aunque también tendremos varias para compartir. Disfrutaremos de "paletas" (helados mexicanos) para refrescarnos. Opciones sin lácteos disponibles.

Please join us at our beach cleanup where we provide everything including tools, water, and snacks. All we need is you!

What To Bring: Reuseable water bottle and wear comfortable clothes. We suggest a hat and sunglasses.  

What We Provide: All tools needed, sunblock, water refill jug, light snacks, and designated team members who take pictures and ensure safety.

Safety Guidelines: Drink plenty of water and take breaks as needed. Set a timer to come back at set time. Watch out for sharp objects, glass, and wildlife. Avoid heavy lifting and work with a buddy at all times. Do not touch hazardous materials such as needles or chemicals. Report heavy items to our designated team member.

Post Cleanup: Weigh your buckets and join the group photo at 10:30 am.

Why Help: Beach cleanups are a last line of defense to prevent debris from causing harm to our oceans, to wildlife, to our coastal economies, and even beach-goers. After Hurricane Ian these efforts are needed more than ever.

To kick off Latino Conservation Week (September 14-22), join NYC Bird Alliance (formerly NYC Audubon) and the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy for birding in English and Spanish! Come and explore the woodlands and meadows, and enjoy views of the city and the waterbirds on the East River.

The group will meet at the park entrance near Pier 1, located at 2 Furman Street. Registration not required but encouraged. No limit. Free.

Ven y explora los bosques y prados, y disfruta de las vistas de la ciudad y de las aves acuáticas en el East River.

Brooklyn Bridge Park contains paved paths and a restroom near the meeting location. Pier 1 can be reached by the NYC Ferry, New York Water Taxi, and Governors Island Ferry. The A/C, F, and 2/3 trains stop near the meeting location, as well as the B67 and B69 buses. For more information about Brooklyn Bridge Park's amenities and map, visit the park's website.

This outing follows both paved and unpaved paths and may require navigating some slightly muddy areas and somewhat uneven terrain. (The path goes through some wet areas, which have been made navigable by placement of stepping stones and short board-walks). Please note that restrooms are NOT available on site. Nearby transit stops to the Mauro Playground include the Q20A, Q20B, and Q64 buses. Street parking may be available along Park Drive East.

Land Trust of North Alabama y Alabama State Parks están organizando una hora de cuentos bilingües y manualidades para niños en la Biblioteca Pública del Centro de Huntsville. Land Trust of North Alabama and Alabama State Parks are hosting a bilingual story hour and craft for kids at the Downtown Huntsville Public Library. We will read "Señorita Mariposa" by Ben Gundersheimer and kids will have the opportunity to make their own butterflies. We will learn about Alabama's state insect - the Monarch - and its yearly migration to Mexico, as well as how to help pollinators.
