Breathe Southern California (Breathe Socal) is a non-profit organization that promotes clean air and healthy lungs through education, research, technology, and advocacy.

We are collaborating with Energy Upgrade California to conduct an educational workshop focusing on the Time Of Use (TOU) for home energy efficiency.

Workshop goals include:

• Educating the community on air pollution and the effects on our health
• Educating the community on how air pollution is connected to our energy use
• Educating the community on what renewable energy is vs non-renewable
• Educating the community about the TOU and peak of energy use in their home
• Provide community with tips and resources to reduce energy and more info on TOU. 

We can all take part in reducing our energy at home during 4-9 pm the hours when demand is high and renewable resources are low.

Hola Amigos & amigas, come out and join us on a ride just for the Latinx community. The Boulder Mountainbike Alliance is dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in our community. We’ve added a Latinx ride to create a safe space for riders that are underrepresented in Boulder, led by Latinx Ride Guides. Who is welcome? Anyone part of the Latinx community and people who want to practice speaking Spanish or identify with this culture. We'll ride beginner and family friendly trails in Boulder county and finish every ride with a small get together and BBQ. We'll provide the beer and the grill, you bring the food and fun! Having meaningful conversations that shape our views on who and what belongs in nature is more important now than ever. Who decides what is native and what is not native in nature? Why is it that a person that just relocated (migrated) to Los Angeles can have their offspring considered a “California Native,” but plants and animals will always be associated with their land of origin. Tune into a conversation with members of the Indigenous community in Los Angeles as they discuss what it means for plants and people to be Native or Non-native.

Please join us for this VIRTUAL session to learn more about issues of clean air, climate, and toxins that affect the health of Latino children and families from Erandi Trevino of EcoMadres, bringing Latina moms (and grandmas) together to address educate, engage and empower members to have conversations with lawmakers about the environment’s effect on our children’s health.

Born from a meaningful partnership between Moms Clean Air Force and founding partner GreenLatinos, the EcoMadres program now includes a broad cross-section of Latino organizations and plans to expand into even more communities where Latinos live and work.

This event is free and park entrance will be waived for participants. Must be 18 and older to participate.

Starting at 6:30pm, we will be taking an easy 30-minute walk to the Boardwalk Gazebo at Barr Lake where we will learn how to identify and observe waterfowl, birds of prey, and ecosystems that inhabit healthy bird populations. Latino Outdoors volunteer Rosie Sanchez, who is a birder of 14 years, and a bilingual outdoor educator provided by the Bird Conservancy of the Rockies in partnership with Barr Lake will be leading and helping participants with bird identification. We will provide binoculars, but you are welcome to bring your own!

We'll conclude our walk at the Boardwalk Gazebo with a 45 minute beginner-level bilingual yoga class taught by Diana Campos, who received yoga certification and training as part of the Latino Outdoors Colorado Leadership Development Program funded by REI. This yoga practice will feature bird call identification during the practice.

• Anti-mosquito spray or other products
• Yoga mat (and yoga props if you'd like)

!Acompaña a Latino Outdoors Colorado para una noche de práctica de yoga bilingüe (español / inglés) para observar aves para cerrar la Semana de la Conservación Latina 2021!

SE REQUIERE INSCRIPCIÓN ** La inscripción cierra el sábado 24 de julio a las 12 p.m. MST ** !Cupo es limitado!

Este evento es gratuito y no se cobrará la entrada al parque para los participantes. Debe tener 18 años o más para participar.

A partir de las 6:30 pm, realizaremos una caminata fácil de 30 minutos hasta el Boardwalk Gazebo en Barr Lake, donde aprenderemos a identificar y observar aves acuáticas, aves rapaces y ecosistemas que habitan en poblaciones saludables de aves. Muy poco se habla en las iglesias y como latinos sobre disfrutar y conservar la tierra, o sea, los bosques, mares, ríos y el ecosistema en general. Para muchas personas puede ser un tema no bíblico, no espiritual y que no debe de predicarse desde el púlpito, pero no es así.

En esta Semana de Conservación Latina estaremos enseñando por la radio sobre qué hacer, qué lograr y qué mejorar en nuestro entorno, para hacer de este mundo, uno mejor.  

Los seres humanos somos creación de Dios y todo lo que está a nuestro alrededor también fue creado por Dios, quien nos dio la gran tarea de cuidar, proteger y preservar responsablemente todo lo creado.

Debemos de disfrutar junto a nuestra familia todo lo que Dios creó para nosotros, tocando las flores, sintiendo la arena del mar y la brisa de la mañana, caminando por los senderos en medio de la naturaleza y los bosques, escuchando el canto de los pájaros, y observando los animales, desde las pequeñas hormigas hasta las bestias más grandes.

Hay muchas acciones que unidos podemos tomar para proteger nuestra tierra, desde recoger basura y evitar tirarla, hasta cuidar los entornos naturales.

“Y los bendijo Dios, y les dijo: Fructificad y multiplicaos; llenad la tierra, y sojuzgadla, y señoread en los peces del mar, en las aves de los cielos, y en todas las bestias que se mueven sobre la tierra.”  Génesis 1:28

La conservación de nuestra tierra requiere también recurrir a las autoridades para promover acciones que lleven a establecer leyes y programas para preservar con responsabilidad el hábitat natural, así como regulaciones sobre la caza indiscriminada, que, en aras del deporte, está extinguiendo especies en los mares y en el campo.

Tenemos esta gran responsabilidad, enseñemos sobre ella y hagamos algo desde hoy.

Join us in the shade for our bilingual story time on Saturday July 17th @ 9:00 a.m.! We will read The Very Hungry Caterpillar in English and Spanish, sing songs, and make a craft to take home. Watershed Management Group is hosting Family Saturdays every third Saturday of the month at the Living Lab and Learning Center located at 1137 N. Dodge Blvd from 8a.m. - 11a.m..
