Nature Unidos is a free, family-friendly celebration that highlights the beauty of Latino culture and the importance of equitable access to the outdoors. This is our 2nd year bringing together families, community leaders, and nature lovers for an unforgettable event at the Trinity River Audubon Center.

The day will feature:

• Live animals and opportunities to connect with nature up close

• Guided hikes that showcase the beauty of the Trinity River and its wildlife

• Hands-on bilingual activities for kids and families

• Community exhibitors sharing resources and stories

• Cultural celebrations that honor the Latino community’s role in conservation

By weaving together culture and conservation, Nature Unidos reminds us that green spaces are for everyone, and that Latino voices are vital in protecting and enjoying our natural world.

Join us for a free Latino Conservation Week Kick-Off event! Featuring a resource fair, arts and crafts, performances, food, and so much more, you won’t want to miss this!

¡Acompáñenos en nuestro evento gratuito de inauguración de la Semana Latina de la Conservación! Con una feria de recursos, actividades artísticas y manualidades, entretenimiento, comida y mucho más, ¡no se lo puede perder!

This event will be our pilot event to gather the public out on a Land Trust Preserve to celebrate the 2025 Latino Conservation Week!

Participants will be treated to partner opening remarks, a nature mindfulness grounding welcome (bilingual), a guided hike (bilingual) of the 143 acres of preserved city land emphasizing monarchs and wildflowers, Mead Public Library nature weaving task, Spanish nature books (free) and partner exhibits. Weather permitting! 9:30 am- Noon. Please register by emailing jennifer@glaciallakes.org. Sheboygan Wisconsin Hosted on Willow Creek Preserve owned by Glacial Lakes Conservancy.

Participe en una clinica de pesca gratis para principiantes organizado por el Departamento de Conservación del Estado de Nueva York (NYSDEC) en la Explanada del Río Este, en el condado de Nueva York, el 10 de septiembre de 2025, de 5:00pm a 7:00pm.

 Los participantes recibirán instrucción práctica básica de pesca y aprenderán sobre identificación de peces, gestión pesquera, técnicas de pesca y mucho más.

 Todo el equipo de pesca y la caranda sera proveído. No se requiere registro ni licencia de pesca para participar.

El evento se asigna por orden de llegada y el espacio es limitado. Intrucciones se pueden dar en espanol.

Participate in a free beginner's fishing clinic hosted by NYSDEC at the Harlem Meer, New York County on September 10^th, 2025 from 5PM-7PM.

 Participants will receive basic hands-on fishing instruction and will learn about fish identification, fisheries management, fishing techniques and more!

All fishing gear and bait will be provided. No registration or fishing license is required to participate. Instructions can be given in spanish.

The event is first comes, first served and space is limited. Fishing instruction will take place on the East River Esplanade, north of the sanitation station. Email fwfish2@dec.ny.gov for more event information and weather-related updates.

Acompáñenos a la proyección gratuita del documental "Water for Life" para celebrar la Semana de Conservación Latina. La película destaca a tres defensores del agua en Chile, Honduras y El Salvador. Después de la película, tendremos una platica para tejer la conexion entre todas las aguas del mundo. La proyeccion se ofrece en español con subtitulos en inglés. $5 tarifa de estacionamiento para cada vehiculo. Estacionamiento gratuito para miembros del FRGNC.

Join us for a free film screening of the documentary “Water for Life” to celebrate Latino Conservation Week. The film highlights three water defenders in Chile, Honduras and El Salvador. We will have a talk after the film to bridge connections between bodies of water across the world. The screening is offered in Spanish with English subtitles. $5 parking fee per vehicle. FRGNC members park for free.

Kayak Adventure: We will kayak for approximately two hours from 9:00 -11:00 am. Sub Sea Tours will provide the kayaks, paddles, and life jackets for all participants. Kayaking experience is not required. Single and double kayak assignments will be determined by experience. We hope to view sea otters, sea lions, birds, and other wildlife. We may paddle to the sandspit and take a short walk to explore.
