Bilingual Nature and Bird Walk

Event Description:

In celebration of Latino Conservation Week the Elkhorn Slough Reserve in collaboration with The Bird School Project will host a bilingual birding walk on July 15th.  The walk is from 11:30-1:00 and all levels of birders are welcome.

Join us as we explore the Elkhorn Slough Reserve and learn about the birds and wildlife we have here in Monterey Bay. This hike is ideal for families and beginner bird watchers. We will have binoculars to use during the walk and will provide light snacks. Be sure to bring your reusable water bottle. We encourage folks to bring a picnic lunch for after the walk and to tour the Visitor Center exhibits.

Reserve your spot using the link below.

Trip Logistics: We’ll walk about 3 miles over smoothish dirt roads. Grades will be mostly flat, with one moderate hill. We’ll return to the parking lot around noon. Limited to 12 participants. All are welcome but this trip will be geared toward the beginning/intermediate birder.

Facilities: Bathrooms are available at the visitor center.

Trip Difficulty: Over the course of the morning, the total walking distance will be approximately 3 miles at a slow, birding pace. It may be cool in the morning and could be hot or windy towards the end of the trip. The walking will be over a well-graded, flat dirt road. Bring sunscreen, hats, water, snacks, lunch and everything you may need for the morning.
