History of Sheepherding Along the Continental Divide Trail

Event Description:

Come learn about the history and heritage of Hispano and Navajo sheepherding along the Divide at the historic Tierra Wools workshop and gallery. Located in the CDT Gateway Community of Chama, Tierra Wools keeps the tradition of Hispano and Dine (Navajo) sheepherding alive by raising the threatened Navajo-Churro breed, descended from an ancient Iberian breed introduced to the area by the Spanish over 500 years ago, along with the Rambouillet, or French Merino, breed.

Listen to storytelling about sheepherding and enjoy FREE sheep tacos from Tierra Wools
