Event Description:

We will have this event both on July 15th and July 20th. The tour will begin with a showing of Remembering Manzanar, followed by a tour of the scale model and Block 14 which consists of two barracks, one latrine and a mess hall. We will end the tour with lunch (not provided) in the mess hall where a facilitation of a dialogue in regards to past and current civil rights and immigration policies will take place with visitors. The goal of this event is to provide a place of learning and education towards the incarceration of thousands of Japanese Americans during World War II and promote the intersectionality of the rights of all people, especially as Latinxs and/or People of Color. This event will be geared toward paralleling civil rights and immigration policy then within the Japanese/Japanese American community, and today within the Latinx community. Finally, to encourage visitors to preserve this history by sharing the stories of those who were incarcerated in Manzanar with your own community/ies.
